Thanks! I found nothing in a search, but I was looking for Linux problems.
I just tried the latest Flatpak version of FF from the Mozilla site, but it is the same 84.0.1 version, and has the same problem for me.

Firefox "set as desktop background" doesn't work on Linux Mint 20
I've always used Firefox's "set as desktop background" to change my desktop picture on Linux Mint. Recently (after update to Mint 20?), it hasn't been working. I'm not sure it was when I updated to Mint 20, it may also have quit working after I used Pix to set the desktop background? When ...

Re: Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV with newer versions of Zoom
I believe I may have found a solution to the issue. At least I'm not the only one having Zoom scaling issues: edit ~/.config/zoomus.conf, making sure you have “autoScale=false” or maybe this: "I found out that if you have set QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=1 in your environment (since it's a good ...

Re: Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV via HDMI after upgrading to Mint 20
Definitely an issue with the newer versions of Zoom, not Mint 20. I Timeshifted back to a version of 19.3 where Zoom scales properly on the TV. It has Zoom version 5.0.403652.0509, and it scales properly on my TV. The newer versions available on the Zoom web site do not. I'll change the title of thi...

Re: Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV via HDMI after upgrading to Mint 20
Just discovered it is actually an issue with the latest version of Zoom, not how Zoom works with Mint 20. When I Timeshifted back to 19.3 this time, I picked the image after I had removed Zoom as a "foreign file" in preparation for the Mint 20 upgrade. When I re-installed Zoom from the lat...

Re: Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV via HDMI after upgrading to Mint 20
Here are two screenshots, one with the computer hooked up to a monitor via HDMI, and one with it hooked up to the TV via HDMI. Both the TV and monitor were at 1920x1080. I had to re-size them to allow uploading, but the screen capture files were different sizes by a lot. The original monitor .png fi...

[solved] Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV with newer versions of Zoom
Update: The issue is with newer versions of Zoom only, and happens with Mint 19.3 as well as 20. Zoom version 5.0.403652.0509 works fine, vesrions available from about August 2020, through Sept exhibit this problem on my TV. Hi, After upgrading from Mint Cinnamon 19.3 to Mint 20, I am having a stran...

Help installing AVL aero analysis software
Hi, I'm trying to install AVL Aerodynamic analysis freeware on my 64 bit HP-8300 machine running Mint 20 Cinnamon 4.6.7:, kernel 5.4.0-42: http://web.mit.edu/drela/Public/web/avl/ After several other failed attempts using other installation instructions, I found these ones that seemed the most up to...

Re: "Custom Application" selection does not show apps in usr/share/spplications
Figured it out! If I look at the Properties for the Companion 2.2.4 icon in usr/share/applications, it says Command is 'companion22'. I pasted compaion22 into the line in the Custom Application window where it says you can type or select a custom executable file, and selected "Set as default&qu...

[Solved] "Custom Application" selection does not show apps in usr/share/spplications
I am trying to set a Custom Application for a file type (*.otx files made by OpenTx Companion, for radio control transmitters). When I right click on a *.otx file and select "Open with other application", a window comes up but doesn't list the Companion application. If I select the little ...

Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 effects Intel Xeon graphics
Thanks! I had deleted the 5.3 and two 5.0 kernels, and was running on 4.15. The 5.3 update immediately appeared in the Update Manger again. I used the right click "ignore all updates", and the 5.3 option disappeared. I hope that doesn't also block the 4.15 updates? Now I have to try and co...

Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 effects Intel Xeon graphics
How can I stop the update manager from suggesting kernel updates?
I know I can go through the up dates and unselect them, but it would be nice to not have to do that.

Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 effects Intel Xeon graphics
The update to the 5.3 kernel has had an effect on the performance of my Intel Xeon GPU computer I use as a TV server. The video playback developed intermittent momentary pauses on all video files, some seem worse than others. After shutting down all other programs and making SMPlayer highest priorit...

Re: Brother scanner not working, printer OK Mint Cinnamon 19.1
brscan3 does not install all the correct links in its postinst. You can either do them yourself or (and this could be quicker), copy the files /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother3* to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane/ . Thanks so much Brian! That did the trick, my sister's brscan3 scanner is now working ...

Re: Brother scanner not working, printer OK Mint Cinnamon 19.1
Thank you Brian P! I'll try copying those files as soon as I can get access to the computer. Is this something new in Mint 19.1? I have managed to get the brscan3 scanner working, usually with a struggle, on Mint Cinnamon versions 17 through 19.0, and I don't seem to have that in my endless list of ...

[Solved] Brother scanner not working, printer OK Mint Cinnamon 19.1
I have just installed Linus Mint Cinnamon 19.1 on two HP 8300 Ultra Slim desktop computers. One is connected to a Brother MFC-J435W printer/scanner (brscan4) (wireless), and both the printer and scanner work after the Brother driver install, following the directions on the Brother web site. The othe...

Recover disappeared folder and files?
I've had a folder disappear, along with 30GB of files that were in it. This is on my TV server, which I use one of those little wireless keyboards to interface with. I was copying a file into the folder, went to paste another file in to it, and the little wireless remote keyboard must have picked up...

Re: Trouble importing photos from digital camera
Neither the gThumb or Pix photo import tool woks for me in 18, 18.1, or 18.2, from a Casio Exlim. gThumb photo import worked fine in all the 16.x and 17.x versions. I can cut and paste from the camera manually, but if I try to use the bar at the top of the camera folder to import the photos in gThum...

Re: Pix and gThumb crash on "save as", Mint 18.1 Cinnamon
After some updates today, Pix has been cured and now saves my Casio photos. I get a whole lot of warnings if I start in terminal, but it seems to work for what I need anyway. $ pix ** (pix:8393): WARNING **: Could not load the '23hq' extension: Could not open the module `23hq`: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux...
