changing desktop resolution

Currently I am running Mint 18 Cinnamon, I tried Mint 19 XFCE, it's very quick and I like it. But I couldn't find how to change my screen resolution. Is it only possible to change the resolution by editing files? there is no GUI available in XFCE to change the screen resolution?

I don't think there is one. You'll probably have to download the .deb from https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk11-downloads-5066655.html I installed the JDK with no issues, but looks like there is no JRE 11 released yet. Or maybe I am missing something? the "java" command is...

I turned off and turned it back on and it was fixed. A reboot did not fix it

No more wifi after editing one file

I wanted to modify my ttl so I did the following

Code: Select all

sudo nano /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_default_ttl

I then saved the file and rebooted. Now I can't see any wireless networks

Error when installing nvidia driver

I'm on a fresh install of Linux mint 18 and when I select "nvidia 384" in the device manager, I get the following error

"dpkg: error processing package shim-signed"

I have attached the screenshot of the error.
