Re: Linuxmint xfce and wireless

adding "@nm-applet" to autostart fixes this problem for LXDE; maybe it could also work for XFCE since they are similar in some ways Many thanks! However I have now previously, safely, installed the LXDE version and NM (Network Manager) is autostarted in startup applications - Network Manager :) KIn...

Re: Unable to repair broken packages

When doing a huge number of updates, I have found it best to always use the following commands as shown below: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade This ensures that packages having unmet dependencies are held back in the first round until the dependencies are in...

Re: Linuxmint xfce and wireless

Many thanks Will try that later after reading forums, thank you for taking time to respond appreciated! What is frustrating is it appears that different kernels either have or omit the Broadcomm driver, I was frustrated to learn on another distro I looked at, for example. That it worked on 3.0.01 sa...

Mint debian 201012 and usb Wifi (TP-Link TL-WN821N)

Hi Firstly congrats in getting this out for the Christmas season. My only constructive criticism is it has broken the wifi on my system: I have the TP-Link 300 mbs 802.11n usb dongle (TL-WN821N) This dongle works on 100% of all existing versions of linux in the past 3 months *apart* from :( (mournf...

Re: Can I install the Mint 9 repository in my Ubuntu?

I'm back. This time I'm the delinquent one. I checked for a response from you for a day or three then stopped looking, also got busy with other things. Rest assured, however, that this is important to me, and I will follow through until the problem is solved, however long it takes. Once again, than...

Re: Can I install the Mint 9 repository in my Ubuntu?

Thanks for that info. It appears to be nearly exactly what I need--except for one thing. I'm hung up at the beginning. You said "go to the repositories ..." and download .... I can't establish the Mint repository in the first place. Upon reading your reply, I thought, aha! that's the repository url...

Re: Can I install the Mint 9 repository in my Ubuntu?

Hi Ray I too use both Linux Mint Isadora (64 bit flavour) and Ubuntu (Meerkat RC at present again 64 bit flavour :) Mint I use on my laptop and Ubuntu on my other machine. As an ex systems engineer I am almost fanatical about backing up and the backup tool in Mint, for me, is the best I have seen. ...

Conversion script from Vanilla Ubuntu?

Hi

I wondered if there was a script to convert vanilla Ubuntu to Linux Mint please? I help set up quite a few systems and there is, I believe, an opening for a script of this nature.

Constructive criticism :) and better still a working script would be great! :)
