Re: Linux Mint 19 Login loop
Hi, Same problem here after upgrade from Linux Mint 19 to 19.1. I have a Dell XPS 13 L322X, I can’t post the inxi -Fxz output right now because I don’t know how to do that from the command prompt (Ctrl-Alt-F1 does work). If I find the solution then I’ll post that here. So when I boot I get the graph...

Re: Battery not recognized Mint 17.1 HP Elitebook 8440p
Hello and welcome to this forum!! Do the batteries charge when the computer is turned off? Because it doesn't need an operating system running to charge usually. So if that doesn't work either then I suppose the computer is always used in the dock with the batteries in it and these batteries are bot...

Re: Problems with touchpad & WIFI after initial installation
Hello Daniel, welcome to this forum!! There are more wifi-problems on this forum that handle with bcm43xx, did you see this post: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=188282&p=975327 But I think bcm43xx is much used. When you have your network running through the cable then you m...

Re: Desktop fails on Mint 17 MATE in qemu + kvm + vmware
I have no experience with btrfs and that is why this sticks out for me /dev/sda8 on /qemu/mint type btrfs (ro,subvol=@) /dev/sda8 on /qemu/mint/home type btrfs (ro,subvol=@home) Is it an option to first try ext4 to see if it works then? Also I find the two lines strange but it might just be a repres...

Re: Help getting touchpad two-finger scrolling to work
Hello and welcome to this forum!! I have a similar computer and it wasn't supported under Mint 17-64 Cinnamon, but works like a charm under Mint 17.1. So please post what version you are using. If you're not sure then open a terminal and type: cat /etc/lsb-release Furthermore: are there any propriet...

Re: 17 Cinnemon high RAM use after loading volume
Hello and welcome to this forum!! I hate to start with the fact that I don't have the solution but I can tell you what I would do. Perhaps someone else can give some better information after this. What you encounter shouldn't happen. Can you tell what filesystem you have chosen for the 300Gb partiti...

Hello and welcome to this forum!! Interesting question and I think you did a good job in investigating the problem first (I don't think Hardware support is what it is about btw, I would choose "Personalize and Customize" or "Cinnamon"). I just now tried on Mint 17.1-64 Cinnamon i...

Re: prevent server from sleeping during remote login
Hello and welcome to this forum!! Nice that you've got it working. And I think both of your options could work, but I can't work out the details at this moment. What I was thinking is that since your Raspberry Pi did the wakeuponlan it might also take care of the keeping awake. So if you send a wake...

Re: Touchpad acting erratically
When I google for acer aspire one zg5 mouse not working I see some more problems, not specific to Linux. You might look if there's an option there for solving it. And I found some links on askubuntu.com and this one, https://wiki.debian.org/DebianAcerOne#Touchpad . See if there's a solution there.

Re: Mount Samsung Tablet as MTP, USB2
Thanks for sharing this. There are some more issues with USB3. But I also found that using USB3 with a USB3-harddisk was blazingly fast. Which kernelversion are you using? Did you also try it with an updated kernel? Because when I search "usb 3.0 site:kernel.org" then I find quite a few pr...

Hello and welcome to this forum!! So it sounds like something's wrong with the driver in Mint 17, which sounds strange for your laptop as sounds quite mainstream. You might first want to try Mint 17.1, which is the most recent and because of the new release mechanism also has longterm support. And w...

Re: ADSL speed problem slow
I suppose you are working wireless? If you can connect the computer wired then you can try if that works much faster. And if so then there is probably a problem with the support for your wireless driver under Linux. You might post the output here from these terminal commands so the forum can help in...

Re: DNS resolution stopped working (Help, please!)
/etc/resolv.conf was the place to put your nameservers, that do the translation from hostname to ip address. My VM with Mint17.1-64 Cinnamon has this information in it (which is probably wrong too but gives some information) # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf...

Re: "tray" icons not showing up
No solution for you yet but two suggestions on how to get there. When you open a terminal you can use the command ps -ef | grep dropbox to see if the program is running. Because you suggest it's just the icon not showing up, but did the program start normally? And if it isn't running you can start i...

Re: Shared printer with funky behaviour - Shared HP PSC2440
Sounds like a wrong installation option.
I think on the remote computer you have chosen the option that the printer has a duplexer installed.
This would both explain the turn around of each second page and in case of an odd number of pages the last page being stuck.

Re: DNS resolution stopped working (Help, please!)
Under /etc/ there is a file resolv.conf, perhaps that has wrong servers in it.
But a good idea might be to try a live USB with Mint17.1 and if that works well then migrate her to that new version.

Hello and welcome to this forum!! I have been searching for what you are looking for but I never saw it mentioned as a possibility anywhere. Did you have that using Gnome under Solaris? If so then it might also work with Mate, which should be sort of a Gnome2-recreation. But I hope someone else can ...

Re: How to connect wifi based on windows network guide
I suppose the guests-wifi network is no alternative to the students-network. So you should be able to connect to the students-network and go on from there. But you might best ask the helpdesk over there because you probably won't be the first with this problem. If that's not an option then please te...

Re: Installing f.lux or redshift
The method does work, because I installed it that way. But the problem you describe is one that you get when you start apt from the console while the update manager or the software store or synaptic is also opened. And if that is not the case then there is a problem that must probably be solved by d...
