Re: 4 mint tools released for Elyssa... (again :))

Hi Kynan

Yes the offset of the menu is configurable. Run `gconf-editor /apps/mintMenu/mintMenu_offset` and then adjust the value.

Re: mintMenu missing

Uhm... don't know why but it seems that 'python-gnome2-desktop' has been uninstalled on your system. It is needed in order to run mintMenu.

Re: mintMenu missing

Hi motoperpetuo

Could you open a terminal and paste `/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu_frontend.py run-in-window` and post the output here in the forum?

Re: Wine menu items won't launch from MintMenu

Hi phillfri I don't think is a general wine application problem as all wine applications I have installed can be launched form mintMenu. Can you run the command `/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu_frontend.py run-in-window` and see if it prints any error messages, when you try to start the applica...

Re: mintMenu memory leak?

Hi Lars: Please correct me if I said anything wrong. I'm still looking into this and I'm not 100% sure as whether my description is fully correct or not. mintMenu 3.x uses inotify to monitor all relevant files and directories for changes. So if a file gets changed, is added or deleted mintMenu gets ...

Re: Suggestion: Edit Menu

Hi Alec, hi Kynan Thank you for your suggestion. Although I share your concerns I fear that you won't see a solution soon. It's a small change on the outside that would require a major internal rewrite of the code. Maybe you'll see something similar in the next major version( e.g. 3.0). But I recomm...

hi ironosity

something similar is already implemented in the development version ( you have to press arrow down + enter ).

The mintMenu sourcecode is in /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu

A minor thing:
In the installer it says at the summary it is going to install ubuntu

EDIT:
Sorry it does not say its going to install ubuntu, it says its going to migrate from ubuntu, although the only installed os was celena itself ( in a vm )

@scorp123:
I guess I need a windows machine to run Bart PE, or does it run under wine? ;)

@linuxviolin
The BitDefender distro was what I found with Google but as you mentioned it is a bit outdated.

@newW2
Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for :)

Antivirus livecd

Does anybody know a recent linux livecd with ntfs read/write support and a virus scanner( like clamav ) installed? Everything I could find on google was several years old. But I'm quite sure I read somewhere not to long ago about a live distro with antivirus. I just can't find it anymore :/ It would...

hi jtsai256

You can't disable the tooltips in the current released version of mintMenu.
In the development version you can already disable them, but there are some more things I want to work on, before releasing it.

well, there might still be some other dependencies that are missing.
Please run "/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu_frontend.py run-in-window" in terminal again and paste the output

hi shydy I don't think that the neither bcm43xx nor the kernel update have caused the problem. You are missing the python gtk package. You mentioned a analysis process: Maybe some parts of your file system were damaged and that way the gtk python package got removed. Open up synaptic ( Alt+F2 synapt...

hi crmaykish

You'll have to wait for the next version of mintMenu. I'm quite sure it will include a option to let the user choose which tab to show when the menu is opened.

hi shydy Your installation is probably broken. Have you checked the md5 sum of the iso before burning? If not you should do it and compare the md5 sum with the one at the download page . If the sums don't match you'll have to download the iso file again. But to be sure open up a terminal ( Alt+F2 "g...

hi KrazyPinguin You couldn't find a command to open mintMenu, because, as I said before, there isn't such a command. The next version of mintMenu is a feature version so it's possible that it will include a feature to open mintMenu with a hotkey, but till than you have to wait or put your hands on t...
