LMDE3 updated iso

I'm a happy user of LMDE3 and I'm very excited as I hear there is work ongoing to LMDE4. Anyway, LMDE3 is still my preferred choice for any case where I need a live distro or I want to create a fast and reliable OS into a virtual machine. Now, as time goes by, new bugs are fixed and both Mint & Debi...

Re: Need for Marco

Thank you for this 'find' usage. Result in my home are: ./.cache/dconf ./.cache/tilda/locks/lock_1823_0 ./.thunderbird/3kq4e2fh.default/lock ./.mozilla/firefox/mwad0hks.default/lock (I removed some entries since I know I set read-only mode for them by myself) The only odd entry is the first one, tha...

Need for Marco

I have my main pc with ubuntu mate 16.04 and I recently installed lmde2 mate also (the 201503 stable release). The /home directory is on a shared partition, so mate configuration files are shared as well. Now, the issue. Ubuntu with up-to-date mate (1.12.7) runs fine. Lmde installed, mate 1.8.someth...

Fixed.
My bad, the actual window decoration was based upon a package I forgot to install.

[SOLVED] Window appearance gets strange

I have a aesthetic oddity in my new lmde2 mate installation. First of all, I have to say my /home went through a number of migrations in the last months: lmde1 32 bit (everything worked fine) lmde2 64 bit (everything worked fine) lmde1 32 bit (I had to run 'marco' by myself) lmde2 32 bit (window dec...

Cannot restore after hibernation

With lmde2 my laptop cannot correctly restore the previous session after a hybernation. The pc turns on and mint loads as well, the issue is, xorg is all black and it doesn't react at all. I try to blind login but it doesn't seem to be received, i try to switch to another console but the screen keep...

Re: mpeg4ip on lmde

Thank you for your quick reply. Anyway, as many other packaged versions of mpeg4ip, this deb lacks the tool `mp4creator' which I'm after since it seems to be the only tool able to create audio mp4 files ready for my rockbox device (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=6748.0). This is why I'm i...

mpeg4ip on lmde

Does anybody know how to get mpeg4ip on lmde? Does a debian package exist? I can't find it in synaptic, on their site (mpeg4ip.sf.net) it is said version 1.6.1 got released several years ago (I know, the project is abandoned nowadays) but can't find the tarball, only 1.5.0.1 is available but it is s...

Re: Install Compiz and GNOME 2 Extensions In MATE?

Just for you to know, I'm using compton (which itself is a fork from old xcmpmgr) and what I can say is... it's nice.
The package is really light and I got elegant window shadows, smooth fading in and fading out, but the command line switches allow for waaay more possibilities.

Re: Window theme when I'm root

Theme moved, nothing changed. I tried a rationale approach and... FIXED! at last, I got it! It required some steps before I figured out where the issue was. 1. Removed ANY theme into ./themes , I moved everything into a backup subdir. 2. restarted X. everything looked ugly 3. restored ONLY my custom...

Re: Window theme when I'm root

It's /usr/shar e /themes. Yeah, you're right, it was just a typo. Anyway, I copied my custom theme into /usr/share/themes indeed and still any sudo-ed window appears without a theme. mdmsetup: http://s11.postimg.org/s7ffqpm1r/Schermata.jpg mintsources: http://s29.postimg.org/f6h16hsnn/Schermata_1.j...

Building POV-Ray 3.7

Official debian repos still provide povray 3.5 and 3.6, so I built the latest release by myself. Use synaptic in order to get required libraries (such as libpng, libjpeg, libgif, openexr, libboost - all of them with -dev packages!) but a further trick is needed. In /usr/lib you need to create the fo...

Re: Window theme when I'm root

Most probably you're currently using some theme that resides in ~/.themes instead of /usr/share/themes , so it's not applied to all the users. This is true, I'm using a custom theme but it was created with a mint theme as starting point. Why does synaptic still uses that one? The issue is this same...

[SOLVED] Window theme when I'm root

When I run programs with `sudo' I get an unusual theming: http://s27.postimg.org/xiuac1zyn/Schermata.jpg Look at the different buttons in synaptic (as super user) and in calculator (as normal user). This seems to me some configuration file is referring to a non-existent theme, so the default (ugly) ...

Yes, my current display manager is mdm but no option is provided for changing what I wish.
Mmmmmhhhhh, maybe is this behaviour related to the adopted theme?

Good old wine...

Why LMDE 201403 still ships with wine 1.4.1?
It is rather old release, I agree, I see no point in installing 1.7.x branch since it claims to be unstable but what about 1.6.x branch? Even ubuntu 12.04 can get it in its repos.
Am I missing something?
