Re: Some feedback on LMDE 2

1. Those 191 updates are over an 18 month period, which is pretty good. 2. I don't do auto logins so no idea. 3. Sounds like you're using MATE. Install and use Compton. 4. LMDE = Linux Mint Debian Edition, which is obviously not Ubuntu. 5. No mirror problems here. I'm using US mirrors from the Phili...

Re: How to update Flash and LibreOffice

I'll second jessie-backports. I've updated a lot of LMDE 2, including the kernel and headers.

Re: MATE desktop - Desktop settings - panel layouts

MATE Tweak is available in jessie-backports. The rest is a matter of installing the necessary dependencies, if possible.

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

I love LMDE, but I've jumped over to openSUSE Tumbleweed and I'm really enjoying it.

Re: What are the differences between debian and main distro?

This is what the SolydXK Team plans to do, and I wonder if the Mint Team might also be planning the same thing for LMDE. In either case, I've sadly moved on to openSUSE Factory/Tumbleweed. Q. Will there continue to be a SolydXK spin that tracks Debian Testing? A. Yes. When the current HE spins becom...

Re: Antergos

Glad to help and it really works great. I like Cinnamon and I used it to install 2.2 until Mint 17 was released.
He also has a QT ISO available for those that wish to install KDE.

Re: Antergos

Antergos is great! But if you're already familiar with Arch Linux and you just want a quick and easy way to install it, nothing beats Evo/Lution:

Re: Upgrading kernel to 3.14/3.15 etc.?

This is how I get the latest kernel, headers, drivers, etc from Debian Testing: su -c 'echo deb http://http.debian.net/debian testing main contrib non-free > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian-testing.list' apt update Install via Synaptic Package Manager sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian-testing.li...

Re: LMDE version questions

I of course meant the inner workings of the OS rather than the desktop environments. Once you learn to use the Synaptic Package Manager you're all set. PCLinuxOS uses it rather than the terminal (Command Prompt) to do almost everything, including updates. It's not cutting edge, but it is solid as a ...

Re: LMDE version questions

I vote LMDE rather than Ubuntu. I just started using Linux, or rather distro hopping last year. Since then I've tried most of the major distributions, including Arch Linux. It's amazing what you can learn in a short period of time if you're willing to dive in and get your hands dirty. The first thin...

LMDE Cinnamon + KDE Full

After a fresh install of Cinnamon, I installed KDE Full leaving MDM in place. KDE LMDE works GREAT! If MDM didn't say Cinnamon I would forget that I even had Cinnamon installed :-)

Re: LMDE install woes

If the install completes successfully, you'll get a popup similar to this:

Re: LMDE install woes

Impressions aside, if you didn't get the popup telling you that the installation was completed, and asking you if you would like to reboot, then the installer crashed.
