For my first install i used the origional mintupdate before installing mintupdate-debian and changing the repo.
This system is still running great.
I expect the respin to fix most of the LMDE problems.
Anyway off to reinstall the new box, and use the origional method.

Re: UPDATE PACK 1 FEEDBACK THREAD
I installed mint debian on my new system and installed mintupdate-debian and added the debian.linuxmint.com repo and updated. It was esentially updating every package, it took forever to DL and has failed to the point that i wil have to reinstall. ie It went from 1100+ packages installed to 425 and ...

Re: UPDATE PACK 1 FEEDBACK THREAD
Initial thoughts: The repo is too slow, to the point of being unacceptable. If I was using my local debian repo it would be 6+ times faster. EDIT: I am assuming you have mirrored the debian repo at a point in time for this debian incomming repo. If this repo is not going to be replicated by mirror s...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development
News people!!
Good and bad as it turns out, due to all the Ubuntu problems I am swapping the base from Kubuntu to Debian.
What does this mean? A bit more of a wait but it is DEBIAN!
Hopefully this wont take too long as I have the packages built and the ISO build process is very similar.
Cheers

Re: Mint 11 KDE development
I tried wicd but it had the same problem so I think it may be a deeper problem than the network manager. I'll try gnome network manager again and see what happens. EDIT well network manager gnome made no difference but what it appears to be telling me is that maybe network manager connected to the n...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development
Development has been held up as I wait for some artwork form Clem and he finishes off the fixes to Mint. Once Mint is released I will be able to build the last packages and build some ISO's. the auto-eth on my dev system is still crap and I was hoping a newer release of KDE4 would be out and in the ...

those icons are system ones and that is why they are white and plain/flat or visa versa.
Or so stay the KDE gods.

Mint 11 KDE development
I have been doing development since Kubuntu Beta1, Beta2 and now final. What problems have been found... my network connection rarely comes up and the nVidea drivers can cause all sorts of problems. Networking is some sort of auto-eth0 issue not being created or something lower down the driver chain...

Re: Update Manager not working!!
It looks like you are having connection issues to some ubuntu repositories. the second one looks like a DNS issue to resolve archive.canonical.com. And the first looks like you are trying to update the kernel but not all the correct kernel packages are being selected or seen in the repo. this could ...

Re: Mint-Kde Configuration error
Ok I have fixed this bug (me being lazy in a place or two) in the postinst file.
a temp fix is to edit this file:
/var/lib/dpkg/info/mint-configuration-kde.postinst
and edit out the copy for quassel file.
Cheers

Re: KDE i386 v AMD64
I have found that the 64bit releases are more stable than the 32bit ones.
This has been most evident when installing mythbuntu, the 32bit version would not even install, but the 64bit is great.
I'm wondering if 32 is now an after thought.
cheers

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
The final has replaced lancelot with kickoff.
The final has been approved for release so keep your eyes open for it...
If you are using the RC you already have the updates to the final it is just the menu that has changed, and only 1virtual desktop, all user changeable settings anyway.
Cheers

Re: Question for Boo
1 virtual desktop is due to a bug where when you are scrolling down a page in some app, the desktop rotates to other virtual desktops.
It is like the app has lost focus to the desktop so you are no longer scrolling a page but desktops.

Don't wait for the Debian KDE packages....
The Final Mint KDE is in testing, we had a few usability bugs.
Defaults: swapped lanelot for kickoff, mint* updates, only 1 virtual desktop.

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
Repos and Packages using deb. The words update and upgrade get interchanged a lot when it come to deb packages and repos. An update is updating (downloading) the list of debs in your repo cache or what is available to you via your enabled repos. An upgrade will install the latest version of the apps...

Ok my bad.
so update the repo listings, install mint-meta-kde(64) and do an upgrade.
apt update
apt install mint-meta-kde
or
apt install mint-meta-kde64
then upgrade any way you like: apt, synaptic, aptitude, mintUpdate..

Re: LM 10 KDE RC – First Impressions
MintUpdate does not start for live sessions.
Once installed it does start.
But if you put it on a thumb drive you may want to enable it.
