Re: Cinnamon and the slow menu from the stoneage

Any update on this?

Wondering because not only does the menu hang for a sec, I've noticed it hangs my entire system.

For instance, if I'm watching a movie and click menu, my movie and audio hangs until the menu appears.

Re: Will KDE survive

People have been speculating on why they did this, but I can only come up with one thing. So many people have left the hell that is Unity and Gnome, and moved to kde, that they don't like it. Their flagship desktop is being left in droves and Canonical is trying to put the proverbial finger in the d...

wireless signal rollercoaster.

LM xfce 6.

running a dell inspiron 9300 laptop with intel 2200bg wifi.

wifi has zero signal issues windows.

under LM my signal will start at 95% and then fluctuate down to 15-17% and jump back up to 95%.

it does this 2-3 times a minute.

any ideas?

Re: Mint 6 Xfce RC1 errors

i did a fresh install of mint xfce rc1 and it runs great, but when i enable compiz, my desktop icon text disappears.

also compiz doesn't remain as the manager after reboot.

dont really know if those are bugs but those are the only two problems i had with it so far.

Re: Laptop resolution

ermm, is it onboard video? or an agp video card?

two different things..

either way can you obtain a model number for your video card? that way we can tell you how to install the needed drivers.

Re: Live external USB drive?

it can be done, but you have to remember one thing. no matter what, windows will only see 1 partition on an external drive if its set as removable. so make the first partition the partition you want windows to see. then make the second partition your linux partition, and make sure you install grub t...

Re: Tips needed for extending laptop battery life

things i can think of off the top of my head would be: -install proper video card drivers so the power saver mode works. -add the power applet to your bar and set it to power save mode. -turn down the brightness on your screen, i would imagine this has to be done in the bios as i don't know if your ...
