Re: not enough free space in /var/cache/....

@Larry78723 Thanks for your comment on the space in /. I am wondering why LM 20 Cinnamon needs so much more space the LM17.3 KDE. On my LM 17.3 machine the root contains 29 GB data, where as on the LM 20 machine it contains already 36.1 GB. On the LM 20 machine there are several bigger applications ...

Re: not enough free space in /var/cache/....

@ LanceM I tried several ways you proposed to see where the Timeshift files could be; however I was not able to identify the location. rost@ROSt-X230:~$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on udev 8011896 0 8011896 0% /dev tmpfs 1611516 1720 1609796 1% /run /dev/sda7 42872180 3713242...

Re: not enough free space in /var/cache/....

@JerryF Your comment made me looking into details: The attached screenshots show what is in /run/timeshift/backup/timeshift, thus in the root partition. Checking Timeshift's settings shows the /home partition is checked. However, I did not find any folder or file related to timeshift. Now I wonder w...

Physical volume: not OK

When I ran today in the frame of the recovery of LM20 Cinnamon machine, "System Summary", I got the message ==LVM state== Physical Volume: not OK (Bad) Volume Groups: OK (Good) I learned from @diapason that this means there are some damages on the HDD (8 years old). Re: LM 20 Cinnamon - Needed size of root partition [SOLVED]

Re: LM 20 Cinnamon - Needed size of root partition

Thanks for your reply!

Timeshift is the trouble maker; I don't use time shift on my old LM17.3 machine. Thus I need to add the time shift space to my "normal" size of the root partition

Helpful answer! Thanks!
