Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?

The Skype version I have installed was downloaded direct from the Skype site, and is the current version. The problem is, every time my PC (and Skype) starts, I get a START_UP_LOAD_ERROR and have to sign out of Skype, then sign in again. It appears that some people on Ubuntu have the exact same prob...

Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?

I did that a while back. What you get now is not Skype for Linux Beta, but instead Skype for Linux. I didn't have the issue with Skype for Linux Beta.

Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?

As best I can find Jessie is 8.0 (or higher)
| update so as best I can see the assertion that Skype is not supported on LMDE2 is incorrect

Skype version 8.11.0.4
Calling version 2017.23.01.38

Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ? [CLOSED]

LMDE 2 Cinnamon 64bit I posted in the Microsoft Community on a STARTUP_LOAD_ERROR I am having with the current version of Skype. The response is It looks like you're using a Skype version we don't fully support yet. The only supported versions are listed below: 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04+ 64-bit Debian 8.0...

Re: skype issue

Skype for Linux download, described as 4.5 but it's 4.3 (at least the DEB file is), is available at https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4985 ... linux.html

I installed it on the LMDE2 laptop I'm setting up and it works, at least for now

Re: skype issue

I don't like the Beta and 4.3 is still running fine (I know Skype said it wouldn't after 1 July) on my LMDE2 desktop. Setting up a laptop, and I'd like to put 4.3 on it, not the Beta. Any ideas for where to get a 4.3 DEB file ? 64bit preferred.

Re: Update of mintupdate does not handle 1024x576 display

Thank you for that tip. I will try to remember it when the problem next occurs. Is the tip 'standard behaviour' ? That is, valid in LMDE2 Cinnamon for any app displaying a window bigger than the current display, but not showing scroll bars ?

Update mintupdate not handle 1024x576 display [SOLVED]

LMDE2 Cinnamon 32bit My netbook has a builtin display of 1024x576. The mintupdate 'choose your mode' screen that comes up immediately after the update does not fit within this so I am unable t make a choice until I plug in an external display. Note a similar problem also occurs during the original i...

Chromium doesn't want to be default browser :-)

LMDE2 32bit Cinnamon on old netbook with 32bit processor System Settings-Preferred Applications-Web, choice of Firefox or Chromium, set Firefox as default. Re: Administrative password issues

My desktop LMDE2 system was a new install, not an in-line update, on a disk previously used for Windows on another PC, absolutely no connection with LMDE1. And I do not need password to view Software Sources. So it seems LMDE2 is not quite the same as Main Edition, that is, presumably some programs ...

Re: Administrative password issues

Pierre also said - you don't need to change the Administrative Password, though, which, under the LinuxMint System is not set, anyway. That's very interesting, since my LMDE2 system on my laptop is asking for Administrative password to view Software Sources. As I understand it, in LMDE2 (please corr...

Re: How to make Chromium the default browser ?

Thank you, that was my thought as well. But as I said in my original post I have gone to System Settings-Preferred applications-Web and selected Chromium. Close System Settings, go back to the setting for Web, and it still says Chromium, but when I open Chromium, it is NOT the default browser. Ron

Re: How to list packages installed since installing LMDE2 ? [SOLVED]

Thanks, Bill, I may end up having to do that. However it is my observation that many packages are 32bit or 64bit specific, so there would legitimately be perhaps many different packages on each machine.

Chromium doesn't want to be default browser :-)

Laptop LMDE2 Betsy 32bit Cinnamon I prefer Chrome to Firefox. But Google have discontinued 32bit Chrome for Linux, so I installed Chromium instead. And I prefer Chromium to Firefox. But I can't find a way to make it my default browser. I open Chromium-Settings-Set as default browser, click it, and n...

Administrative password issues

LMDE2 Cinnamon When I upgraded in place LMDE1 -> LMDE2 on my desktop, I had intermittent autologin problems. Unfortunately that harddrive crashed so I did a new LMDE2 64bit install on another harddrive some months ago, and since then I've had no autologin problems. I only have a single account on th...
