Re: Mint Update no longer showing in task bar

LMDE Cindy 64bit Cinnamon On my system, even if there are updates, Update Manager is not showing in the taskbar, although, to be fair, there is a blank space where it ought to be. If I start it from the Menu then close it (applying any updates first :-) then it does appear in the task bar taking ove...

Re: Skype icon not appearing in systray [SOMETIMES]

Well, sometimes after I boot up, the Skype icon does not appear in the system tray even though I have Skype in my Startup Applications. For the last couple of weeks, sometimes the Update Manager icon also does not appear in the system tray. In both cases, if I start the apps via the menu, the releva...

Re: Unable to print to Win 10 shared printer

Super ! Many thanks !

As best I recall, I had ufw enabled on my LMDE2 system, it appears LMDE3 defaults to ufw being disabled. I enabled it using gufw and now I can print again to the Win 10 printer.

Re: Unable to print to Win 10 shared printer

Looked at localhost:631 and I have a little more info NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL Looked at the smb.conf file in the last timeshift in LMDE2 and I can't see any differences compared with the smb.conf file on LMDE3 Looked at the printers.conf file LMDE2 and LMDE3. Re: Skype icon not appearing in systray

Sometimes I hate computers.

I shut down the system for a few hours. When I booted up again, the Skype icon is in the systray.

The line I noted from xsession-errors before appears in the current xsession-errors file this time too.

Unable to print to Win 10 shared printer [SOLVED]

LMDE3 Cinnamon 64bit I recently updated to LMDE3 from LMDE2 using mintupgrade. I had been printing from my LMDE2 system to a shared printer on a Win 10 system for a long time (and in fact before that to a Win 7 shared printer). Now I cannot print to the Win 10 shared printer from my LMDE3 system. I ...

Re: Skype icon not appearing in systray

In the .xsession-errors file I note the following cinnamon-session[938]: EggSMClient-WARNING: t+0.82496s: Desktop file '/home/ron/.config/autostart/skype.desktop' has malformed Icon key 'skype.png'(should not include extension) It looks like this might be relevant but I have no idea what to do next ...

Skype icon and Update Manager not appearing in systray [SOMETIMES]

LMDE3 Cinnamon 64bit I've just updated from LMDE2 to LMDE3. I have Skype (which says it's the latest version) set to startup with the system. However, the icon does not appear in the systray. If I go into the menu and click on Skype, it comes up immediately (but still not in the systray) so it seems...

Re: "Problems during Cinnamon startup"

When I had a problem with Shutdown in LMDE2, I installed the applet 'Session Manager'. I do not have the problem with LMDE3, so I have now uninstalled the Session Manager applet. I shut down and rebooted and I no longer have a notification of problems during Cinnamon startup.

Re: "Problems during Cinnamon startup"

It appears from a further hunt-around that the applet my system calls 'System Settings' is also known as 'Cinnamon Settings'. Doesn't help me, in that I have no idea what I need to change.

OK, from the lack of response, it seems this one is not worth pursuing. So, I'll abandon it.

Re: How can I replace the Menu QUIT with Session Manager ?

I'm sure that LMDE already has a 'session manager'. It did not however, as installed, have the applet called 'Session Manager' which when invoked offers a list of options including Shut Down, which if you select it shuts the PC down with no gnome-keyring-daemon problem.

How can I replace the Menu QUIT with Session Manager [ABANDONED] ?

LMDE Cinnamon 64bit I've recently had a problem that Shutdown selected by using the Quit button on the Menu is held up by gnome-keyring-daemon not responding. Waiting for then selecting the Shut Down Anyway button means Shutdown takes a minute or more longer than it used to. The workaround I found i...
