Re: Upgrade LMDE2 to LMDE3 'Delete Foreign Packages' Beware
> something that I've always done, when doing any upgrade, is to remove the couple of extra programs that I've installed, You are fortunate that you can remember what extra packages you have installed. Or you have very good documentation of what you've done. Personally, I'd forgotten that I didn't i...

What I've actually done is the upgrade using mintupgrade and after that re-installed google chrome and skypeforlinux using the deb packages from their respective websites. I didn't remove them fi...

Upgrade LMDE2 to LMDE3 'Delete Foreign Packages' issue
LMDE2 Cinnamon 64 bit upgrade to LMDE3 Cinnamon 64bit When I have a look at the 'Delete Foreign Packages' step in the tutorial, I have an issue. I select all as the tutorial says, but when I try to actually delete, the process says that the 'mountall' package is an essential part of the system and c...

Mintupgrade "Downgrade Foreign Packages" hung
LMDE2 Cinnamon 64bit using Mintupgrade to go to LMDE3 Cinnamon I am stepping through the 'How to upgrade to LMDE3' tutorial on an old laptop I don't use a lot . Everything went smoothly till I got to the "Downgrade Foreign Packages" step. There were 3 packages listed, so I selected all 3 and clicked...

What you're suggesting is a bit above my pay grade. Thanks for the thought, anyway.

OK, from the lack of response, it seems this one is not worth pursuing. So, I'll abandon it.

Re: How can I replace the Menu QUIT with Session Manager ?
I'm sure that LMDE already has a 'session manager'. It did not however, as installed, have the applet called 'Session Manager' which when invoked offers a list of options including Shut Down, which if you select it shuts the PC down with no gnome-keyring-daemon problem.

How can I replace the Menu QUIT with Session Manager [ABANDONED] ?
LMDE Cinnamon 64bit I've recently had a problem that Shutdown selected by using the Quit button on the Menu is held up by gnome-keyring-daemon not responding. Waiting for then selecting the Shut Down Anyway button means Shutdown takes a minute or more longer than it used to. The workaround I found i...

Re: Shutdown stops as gnome-keyring-daemon not responding
After more research in the LM forums, I've found a solution that seems to be working for me (so far at least). Install the Session Manager applet and use that instead of the Menu 'Quit' button to shut down. Go to System Settings-Preferences-Applets then select 'Available applets (online)' then find ...

Re: Shutdown stops as gnome-keyring-daemon not responding
I've investigated a bit : it appears gnome-keyring was installed on my system as part of the latest SkypeforLinux update which I installed a couple of days ago. If I try to remove gnome-keyring, SkypeforLinux will be removed as well.. The good news is that since the latest update, I don't need to si...

Re: Shutdown stops as gnome-keyring-daemon not responding
Thanks for the idea, sadly it didn't work ...
I had to sudo shutdown 0
I agree that on the next bootup, I was able to shutdown cleanly, no gnome-keyring-daemon issue.
BUT on the bootup after that, shutdown had its gnome-keyring-daemon issue again.

Shutdown stops as gnome-keyring-daemon not responding [SOLVED]
LMDE Cinnamon 64bit (installed about 1 year ago ; all updates applied) A couple of days ago, shutdown stopped as gnome-keyring-daemon was not responding. I've been running for about a year and had not seen this before. Now happens on every shutdown. The 'shutdown anyway' option works, but that means...

Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?
The Skype version I have installed was downloaded direct from the Skype site, and is the current version. The problem is, every time my PC (and Skype) starts, I get a START_UP_LOAD_ERROR and have to sign out of Skype, then sign in again. It appears that some people on Ubuntu have the exact same prob...

Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?
I did that a while back. What you get now is not Skype for Linux Beta, but instead Skype for Linux. I didn't have the issue with Skype for Linux Beta.

Re: Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ?
As best I can find Jessie is 8.0 (or higher)
| update so as best I can see the assertion that Skype is not supported on LMDE2 is incorrect
Skype version 8.11.0.4
Calling version 2017.23.01.38

Skype not supported on LMDE 2 ? [CLOSED]
LMDE 2 Cinnamon 64bit I posted in the Microsoft Community on a STARTUP_LOAD_ERROR I am having with the current version of Skype. The response is It looks like you're using a Skype version we don't fully support yet. The only supported versions are listed below: 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04+ 64-bit Debian 8.0...

Re: skype issue
Skype for Linux download, described as 4.5 but it's 4.3 (at least the DEB file is), is available at https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4985 ... linux.html
I installed it on the LMDE2 laptop I'm setting up and it works, at least for now

Re: skype issue
I don't like the Beta and 4.3 is still running fine (I know Skype said it wouldn't after 1 July) on my LMDE2 desktop. Setting up a laptop, and I'd like to put 4.3 on it, not the Beta. Any ideas for where to get a 4.3 DEB file ? 64bit preferred.
