Re: Windows has taken up 4 primary partitions

I have an HP Mini 110 with Windows 7 Starter 32 bit, and all 4 primary partitions were used. After a bit of scouring the web, I found that the partition that the Windows OS is in does not actually need to be a primary partition. I used Partition Wizard (I think - it was about 2 years ago) to change ...

Mint BSD?

I've been considering trying out some BSD distributions and I've read some articles where Ubuntu now has a BSD distribution. Just wondering if a BSD Mint is in the future.

Re: View forum in a mobile format

I opted to go with Opera. There seem to be security issues with UC Browser. (Google "Privacy and Security Issues with UC Browser - The Citizen Lab"). Tapatalk looks like a social media thing. These forums are about the closest thing to social media that I get involved in.

<SOLVED> View forum in a mobile format

Is there a way to view these forums in a mobile format? It is a bit awkward viewing this on a cell phone like I am now.

Re: Unlock Login Keyring message

I believe I do have auto-login enabled on the machine that is generating the message. I'll try disabling the auto-login, but since it is the machine my wife will be using , I may opt for deleting the keyrings. She does not like surprises now way no how - at least when it comes to the computer. Thank...

<SOLVED> Unlock Login Keyring message

I'm getting this Unlock Login Keyring message when I first open a web browser: The Login Keyring did not get unlocked when you logged into your computer. ... and I am asked to supply a password which seems to be the same as the computers login password. I don't know what I did to get this message. I...

I installed the Whisker Menu in Mate via the Software Manager, but I don't see how to activate it. Do I need something else?

Re: Mint 17 Mate Menu turns black

Thanks Caz, that was it. If you right click on the menu button and then select Preferences, on the window that pops up click on Theme. From there there is a check box to use custom colours for the menu background. Excerpted from: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=206&t=170648#p878809 If th...

Whisker Menu with Cinnamon or Mate?

Is it possible to use the Whisker Menu with Cinnamon or Mate? I like the simpler and more compact layout of the Whisker Menu.

<SOLVED> Mint 17 Mate Menu turns black

I'm dual booting Windows XP and Mint 17 Mate (a fresh install) on an old Dell Dimension E310. I'm finding that the Menu in Mate is sometimes turning black and unreadable except for the item beneath the cursor - I don't recall seeing this in 16. This is most predictable when switching users (I have s...

Re: Changed username and I can't boot into Mint

| This solved the problem - thanks again to xenopeek: Right, so that shows the display name of userfred has been changed to "UserBob" and the home folder has been moved /home/userbob -- but the account details are otherwise not updated (username still the same, and home folder points to the old loc...

Re: Changed username and I can't boot into Mint

Thankyou xenopeek, UserBob is now in business. The only problem I ran into was at the login window. I didn't notice at first that the prompt was for the username and I kept putting in passwords instead. When I finally noticed that I was being prompted for the username, I entered it as it was display...

<SOLVED> Changed username and I can't boot into Mint

I'm a real newbie here and I'm working with an installation of Linux Mint 16 Mate. On the machine in question, I am dual booting with Windows XP. Here's the deal. I was trying to get Windows and Linux machines into a Windows workgroup. One tip I read, (I don't remember where), was to make sure that ...
