Re: Low Disc space on “Filesystem.root

Thanks very much for the advice Kark.

Can't I just repartition the disc - I thought you could do it without disturbing the data. ???

Re: How to install with manual partitioning

I did a google search on manually partitioning LM - and found this.

Is there a newer one - I think it would be useful to be pinned at top.

I managed to do it - but I think it could do with updating to LM 18 ???

Re: a separate partition for /home

Thank you for your replies so far.

I have found a tutorial on how to install a new partition and move /home to it for Ubuntu - which I assume is the same or similar for LM?

Is their a tutorial on how to do it specifically for LM please ??

a separate partition for /home

I am reading conflicting information on whether it is a good idea or not to put the /home files in a separate partition. To help protect the user information in /home it is said that having it in a separate partition is a really good idea and this seems logical to my inexperienced eyes . I've just m...

Re: Wi-fi turns off after leaving pc alone for a while

Thanks again. More info - I tried the commands you suggested - when the wi-fi was wor king and yes you see the wi-fi go off and then back on again. But I left the PC for about 15 minutes and the wi-fi goes off again and trying the the commands doesn't work ! - Seems the same as when I tried clicking...

Re: Wi-fi turns off after leaving pc alone for a while

If the wi-fi has been turned off for whatever reason - like the one above - how do you turn it on again with a terminal command - and likewise turn wi-fi off.

Re: Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Cinnamon is out!

Hi Mal. As far as I understand the updates to take you from RC to final were available before the final was released, or how else could they be incorporated in the final ISO, so you should have had the final version before it hit the mirrors. Hope this helps. :D Oh yes - now you say that it makes a...

Re: Linux Mint 17 "Qiana" Cinnamon is out!

I've had 17 RC installed almost since it was released and done all the updates. But there have been no updates since the final version was announced yesterday. Shouldnt the final version be out on all the mirrors now - I am using the UK ones. Is there a log file I could read that will tell me what u...
