I am having the same issues. K3B worked fine in Mint 16, but not in 17. Transcode was installed thru Synaptic.

Re: Grub disappeared? No bootable device. Can't boot!

Also when I try to reinstall Grub, I get this: >sudo grub-install /dev/sda grub-install.real: error: /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/modinfo.sh doesn't exist. Please specify --target or --directory. And I tried using Rescatux but no joy. Log: http://paste.debian.net/109128 And I've tried the procedure on this...

Re: Grub disappeared? No bootable device. Can't boot!

Thanks for your response. When I tried Boot Repair, it advised me that GPT was detected, whatever that means. It also told me to create "a small BIOS Boot partition >1mb, unformatted filesystem, bios=grub flag) So I did, and that small partition is now sda1. Screenshot from Gparted below. https://ww...

Grub disappeared? No bootable device. Can't boot!

I have been using Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 64bit for about a month. I am NOT using any Windows partitions, or dual booting, or anything crazy like that. No Grub menu upon normal bootup. Just pure Linux Mint 17. Never had any trouble until today. I fired up the PC and I get this: 'Reboot and select pro...

Re: How to install Google Earth on Linux Mint 17 64bit prope

I always had this instability with Google Earth. I am using Mint 17 64 bit Cinnamon. GE would always disappear immediately after opening. Same in Mint 16 and 15. Thanks to the above instructions, GE works well. Why can't this work right in 64bit? Why the need to revert to the 32bit version? The pro...

Re: Nemo can't rename files.

No one else has this problem? Amazing. I found a bug report that is similar to my issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1258397 This bug report says that when using ibus as a keyboard manager, it causes problems with Nero. I use ibus to type Japanese, so I killed ibus and Nemo works fine....

Nemo can't rename files.

I'm using Mint 17 Cinnamon 64bit. Nemo can't rename files. Any files. Using either F2 or the right click menu. I get the edit window and the text to rename is highlighted, but my keyboard goes dead and I can't change any filenames. This happened before under Mint 16 as well. Anyone else having this ...

No keyboard function in Google Drive with Google browser!

I just updated to Mint 17 Cinnamon 64bit today. I frequently use Google Chromium browser to run my business using Google Drive and Google Documents. Now when I open Drive, I can't use the keyboard to type in any documents whatsoever. I get no text when typing. It's just dead. Other browsers work OK ...

Re: Update Manager icon has disappeared from the panel

One more thing to try. In your Main Menu > Administration > right-click on Update Manager > Add To Panel This added the icon to the panel, but not in the original default location near the clock. Also it doesn't function with the green check mark to show all updates are OK. It won't even respond wh...

Update Manager icon has disappeared from the panel

Any way to get it back? I rebooted but that didn't help. Linux Mint 16, Cinnamon desktop.
