Try to update the font cache, that might fix the problem.

Re: Sharing NAS drive on outside computer
The way this is done will vary depending on the brand of your NAS. Synology, for example, offers the 'QuickConnect' feature.

Re: Ralink PCIe Card Disappears
I'm uncertain if my problem is related, but after the last kernel update (5.30-40) my Ralink RT5390 became unstable. Connecting to an access point was slow at times and, when connected, websites stopped loading at random. After ruling out other possible causes, reverting back to kernel version 5.30-...

Aanpassen beschrijvingen Context Menu

Re: Manjaro overtakes Mint in Distrowatch page-hit rankings
To be fair Manjaro Cinnamon is on the first release of Cinnamon 3.8 right now which still has a few bugs being ironed out, the most obvious being crash on first login after a reboot. So thats not entirely Manjaros fault and will sort itself out in a week or two. Well, then they didn't test it befor...

Re: Manjaro overtakes Mint in Distrowatch page-hit rankings
I don't care about the Distrowatch top 10 - just a counter for mouse clicks. That said, Manjaro could become big one day. I always want to know what all the fuss is about, so I have been installing and testing two community versions (Cinnamon and MATE) and one official version (KDE). Long story shor...

Re: Repairing file permissions in home folder: best way?
It depends on whether all the files have been affected, just one file, and/or su was involved.
In most cases I can just direct an inexperienced user to the graphical interface. Right-click on file -> properties -> permissions.
Else I would prefer method 1.

Let's do a test. Open Terminal and type: xinput list You will get something like this: ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse id=8 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
I still have to download and install 18.04; I've been a bit occupied with test driving the Manjaro Cinnamon and MATE community editions.
A colleague of mine has Ubuntu 18.04 running. All he could say is that his first impression was OK, but that the system appeared to be a bit sluggish.

Not surprisingly, most of the pod people there use Windows. I say pod people because they called me that, as I attempted to t...

Re: Bad economy proves to be an unlikely ally
I had 2 friends recently with old laptops who i upgraded to Mint. The speed you get on old hardware is really appealing, people love being able to click stuff and not having to wait. Yes, but it is still hard to 'sell' as an argument. There's a well defined comfort zone in the world of Windows user...

Re: Scanner software for Epson WF-2530
I ran into the same problem with another Epson printer /scanner when I installed Linux at someone else´s place. It took a few minutes to realize that there's not one driver but two separate drivers: one for the printer, one for the scanner. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oi...

Bad economy proves to be an unlikely ally
The latest three people who I installed Linux Mint for had one thing in common: an outdated and crippled version of Windows, but no money to buy a new PC. One earlier install was because of ransomware (and no backup of any kind). I would have loved to say that they wanted Linux because it is faster,...
