Re: firefox not updating anymore, why?
Thank you, I was suspecting that. It seems that upgrading from 18.3 is not all that easy though.

firefox not updating anymore, why?
Hello, I'm (still) using mint 18.3 (Sylvia), and I recently noticed that my Firefox is not updating anymore: it's currently stuck at version 88.0 If I try a "$ sudo apt install firefox" I get a message saying that it is already at its most recent version: "88.0+linuxmint1+sylvia"...

18.3 latest gnome-online-accounts not working anymore, any update available from upstream?
Hi all, I have gnome-online-accounts installed and, until some time ago, I was able to access my google drive with Nemo (using mint 18.3 with cinnamon) Then I had to change my G password, and tried to update credentials in mint somehow to continue allow Nemo to access. So I went to the "online ...

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
Ok, sorry for the delay, again, but at least after some tried I have some more good news. I collected the log you requested, I'll put them below, but the most interesting thing is that I installed a new kernel and now it somehow works! I tried 4.15.0-70, which I have installed at the moment, and I h...

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
Hi, sorry for the delay, I was unable to try things in the past days. Now I tried all of your suggestions but, unfortunately, still no HDMI output at all, no external display detection at all. Should I restore the deleted xml? I kept a copy elsewhere. In addition, I tried the USB livecd image trick ...

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
Well I have partial good news! I remembered to have read that some user complained that his (similar card) hdmi worked on a livecd, but it didn't anymore once mint was installed on disk. So, I downloaded a fresh iso of Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2, from the website, and copied to a usb disk: rebooted an...

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
I never tried to directly connect to an hdmi display though, without any adapter. Could be that an issue?
A soon as I get access to a hdmi display, I'll try that too.

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
Thanks, no, the external display (at my home, an old samsung lcd tv) is not shown in the Display utility. Never seen it there, "identify" button does nothing. Also tried after lowering my notebook display resolution (natively 4k) to something more compatible... no result. The samsung tv ha...

Re: nvidia 1050 mobile no hdmi at all
Thank you very much for digging into my issue :) I would really like to be able to sort this out by myself, or at least understand what's happening, but I'm not that skilled into hardware issues... I've read so many thinks and tried hints that didn't work, unfortunately. Here is what you requested: ...

ScangearMP works, but not (anymore) if started from GImp
Hi, I have a Canon Pixma MG6150 wireless MFP, since many years. To use it, since Mint 13, I installed canon linux drivers and used the pixma without issues, both for wireless printing and scanning docs. Since a few months I upgraded my pc and Mint install (currently 18.3), and it still worked perfec...

Re: same monitor, different workspace resolutions
Yes for now I resorted to switching different users, but that has downsides. All users settings are independent, not just screen resolution. I once used on Windows an utility named Dexpot (no typo here : https://www.dexpot.de), which IIRC worked quite well in this respect... I don't really understan...

same monitor, different workspace resolutions
Hi, I'm using cinnamon on 18.3, on a laptop with nvidia gtx1050 card. display is hidpi, ~4k, and even if I already found how to adapt most settings for the high resolution, to avoid microscopic texts/icons, sometimes I really wish to run some tool on a different resolution. Ideally it would be great...

Change resolution on different workspaces?
Hi, not new to Mint, but new to Hidpi laptop monitor, and sometimes struggling with various programs to adapt, found solutions and workarounds in most cases, but this time is different, maybe... I often need to capture screenshots or gif recordings of my desktop (to help others on https://blender.st...

Re: about nemo's remote folders icons
The mount point is created at the moment of mount by gvfs under: /run/user/1000/gvfs/ The "1000" would be your user id number so it may be different. And it would look something like: smb-share:server=192.168.1.2,share=shared if it were an smb share. Thank you very much, I found that fold...

about nemo's remote folders icons [SOLVED]
Hi, I usually mount some remote windows shared folders using regular mount command, and I know a bit about that. But now I tried Nemo's feature (file > connect to server...) allowing to access a (windows/ftp/webdav/ssh) remote share, and that added a "special" icon on the desktop, named li...

Re: is a more recent virt-viewer possible in mint?
Would it be possible to get this kind of updates with "containerized" applications like flatpaks or others similar/alternative ones? I answer myself: I fear that no, it is not possible, at least with flatpak: "With Flatpak, each application is built and run in an isolated environment...

Re: is a more recent virt-viewer possible in mint?
All the PPAs I could find for xenial only had v1.0.1, so basically you have two choices. Wait for Mint 19.1 to get v6.0-2 or wait for Mint 19.1 to get v6.0-2. Hi, thanks for checking and feedback. I mean, sharing folders with windows guests has alternatives (samba) but it's about all the new featur...

is a more recent virt-viewer possible in mint?
Hi, my mint 18.3 has virt-viewer 1.0-1 (Ubuntu origin), but it's quite old, and could be missing some features, I think, like: folder sharing with windows hosts. see: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/spice-devel/2017-April/037244.html The newest virt-viewer version is 6 !
