Re: Cinnamon unstable (graphics issue).

I will give it a try -- thanks. Don't remember how I installed the Intel drivers, it was a while ago.

Note that I'm no tri-booting with Mint 19.1, Manjaro 18, and Windows 10. The display issue is much better in Manjaro but still not perfect, FWIW. And it works fine in Windows as well.

Re: Cinnamon unstable (graphics issue).

I wonder if anyone can chime in here ... I'm nearing my end of patience dealing with this. Every day going to/from work, my machine rarely comes out of suspension and I usually have to hard-power-off-and-on and start anew. This is frustrating, of course, since I then have to re-open everything I was...

Cinnamon unstable (graphics issue).

I have a Razer Blade Stealth (2018) with Intel 620 integrated graphics. It almost never comes back from "sleep" due to issues with the graphics drivers. I'm using modeset drivers and have tried official Intel drivers as well. Here is what I experience. switching inputs (plug/unplug HDMI/USB-C or clo...

Cinnamon crashing when under high load.

I've had Cinnamon (Mint 19) crash a few times when my CPU is at high load or my RAM usage is high (e.g. 15 of 16GB). My swap size is 4GB. Laptop is a Razer Blade Stealth (2018). I'm not sure if I should increase my swap or try something else, would love to hear your suggestions. Here is a log from t...

How to make Bluetooth NOT visible?

My laptop (Razer Blade Stealth / Killer Wireless/BT) is visible via Bluetooth even when the Bluetooth app/applet is not open. How do I make it not visible unless I open the Bluetooth config/setting dialog to add/pair a device?

Bluetooth adapter not found "all of the sudden"

I've been using Bluetooth fine for a while now, but as of today, Bluetooth settings shows "No Bluetooth adapters found". I am on kernel v4.13.0-45, and have read that Bluetooth is broken in this kernel ( https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=269217 ). I'm not sure if I should roll back to ano...

Re: Crashing and/or sleeping when changing display configuration

Thanks. Seems like adding --rate 60 as you suggested makes a big difference in reliability. E.g. w/out that flag, often things do not apply correctly. Adding the flag so far has worked well. I suppose I'll not use the Display app any more, and will just make a script to quickly switch between home/w...

Re: Crashing and/or sleeping when changing display configuration

I want all 3 on and the middle one (DP2-1) is the primary. Laptop display is to the left of the array. Here's my command, I think... xrandr --output eDP1 --rate 60 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 0x0 --output DP2-1 --primary --rate 60 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 2560x0 --output DP2-2 --rate 60 --mode 2560x1440 --...

Re: Crashing and/or sleeping when changing display configuration

So many crazy things are happening, and randomly and unpredictably. However, following your examples I was able to get all 2 screens working eventually. it took many tries with enabling the displays in different orders, hard-reboots, restarting X, etc. But right now I have all 3 working properly. Ma...

Re: Crashing and/or sleeping when changing display configuration

Thanks for the detailed suggestion! I tried what you said but I don't see any difference. Currently, I can just use my 2 external screens. The laptop screen is open but off, and when I turn it on in the Display settings, it never turns on and shows up as if it was off again after clicking Apply. I d...

Crashing and/or sleeping when changing display configuration

I'm running Mint 18 on my Razer Blade Stealth (Intel 8th gen i7-8550U HD Graphics). I am using a USB-C dock to connect My keyboard, mouse, and 2 external monitors. When I unplug the dock, Mint "goes to sleep" e.g. as if I had chosen to the "suspend" option from the shutdown menu. Pressing the power ...

Make HDD show as NOT removable.

Hi, I'm running Linux Mint 16. I have a secondary SATA HDD installed and mounted via fstab. Currently, this drive is showing up as "removable" in the file browser as well as the Removable Drives applet.

This is a permanent drive - how can I mark it as such so it is no longer "removable"?
