split audio/video, process audio, recombine audio/video

I have made videos of some local events with my Android phone. Several of them, the audio needs some EQ, limiting, and so on. So, I'd like to separate the audio and video, process the audio in Audacity, and then reassemble the audio and video back together. I know I can open the video with Audacity ...

Are you sure of the model number? It appears that there is a TS5000 series , but no TS5000 printer. Re: HP Ink Printers Remote Code Execution

Mmm - the updated firmware installers are windows only.... :? Bah.... I use Hirens Boot CD when I have that sort of problem (like updating BIOS). I have always used the old version, which has a mini-XP built into it. You can download it here: https://www.hirensbootcd.org/old-versions/ But there is ...

Re: [SOLVED]Model Railroader Noob to Linux

There's a good tutorial on installing software here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=97158 With a few exceptions, it is best to install from the standard Mint repositories you will find in Software Manager or Synaptic. (I always use Synaptic, but people tell me Software Manager is ...

The easiest way to prevent windoze updates is to stop using windoze.

Re: Printer install

This might be helpful: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/15 This isn't a Linux problem, this is a Brother problem. The question should be, why won't Brother make installing their printer drivers easier? Myself, I use HP printers. HP has kindly provided drivers for just about every p...

Re: Win10 over-rode my settings to prevent Updates

Since early 2018, the windows10upgrade.exe file or Upgrade Assistant updates KB4023057, KB4023814, KB4056254, KB4284874 and KB4284880 will re-allow all blocked/disabled Windows Update = the not-up-to-date Win 10 computers will be forced auto-upgraded to the latest version, eg to Win 10 Version 1803...

Re: Installing Linux Mint on microSDXC card

Don't think I've heard of anyone installing on a microSD card, but a number of forums members have installed on USB sticks. You might search the forums for that and see if you find anything that helps.

Some good information on virus scanners in Linux can be found here:

TL;DR: you don't need one, and you shouldn't use one.

Re: Updating BIOS in Linux only environemnt

Haven't used windows in years, so a few questions. Should I transfer the BIOS file to desktop first or just run it directly from the flash drive? Ok to just open it or need to run as admin? Never flashed BIOS before, so hope to do it right. Thanks in advance. It's been a while, but I think what I d...

Re: Installation Take More Than 3 Hours

After reading the cons on https://www.slant.co/versus/1122/1125/~xfce_vs_cinnamon, I am little bit uneasy on the edition. Interesting. I have been using it on my laptop for several years, and have installed Mint XFCE on computers for a number of friends, and it has worked fine. I plan to install Mi...

OK, I uploaded two 64 bit versions and one 32 bit version of 4.x to:

Let us know if those work for you. If not, I have some older ones you could try.

Re: Trying to Install driver fir usb 3.0 wifi adapter

Welcome to the Linux Mint forums, RenWA! Usually, the drivers that come with devices like that are useless or hard to get going. There are a couple of wifi experts on the forums that will be able to tell you what to do, and I can darn near guarantee it will be easier than the instructions on the DVD...

since it's an older machine - - don't use Cinnamon, but rather use the Mate Desktop.
Or XFCE, which is just a tiny bit lighter than MATE, and which I prefer to MATE. But either will work much better on older machines than Cinnamon will.

Re: What does the Linux Mint Development Cycle Look like?

My guess would be that they have a general procedure they follow, but there are probably details that differ from one release to another. I know they use some scripts to build the distro, but I don't think I've ever seen those posted online anywhere. Somewhere in the Linus Mint web sites they do hav...
