Re: convert and burn mp4 to dvd

Look at DVDStyler or De-ve-de, possibly Avidemux. I see you have tried the first two, did you try the latest versions? You need a format that Brasero or similar will recognise and burn, these jobs are a lot easier in Windows, the windows tools dont seem to provide as good results in Wine either :( Y...

Re: Activate Rubbish Bin in Mint 17 Cinnamon

As far as I am concerned the set up is daft, it leaves no room for error. Two conflicting methods of removing a file right next to one another, who was the bright spark who came up with that idea? The only solution that I can find is to remove the delete option from the right click menu. If the dele...

Re: Activate Rubbish Bin in Mint 17 Cinnamon

I only ever use the right click menu as its the fastest method, this I asume is using Nemo and that the files should therefore be in the Bin, but they are not. Rather than adopt a "new" method of deleting/removing files, are there no settings to alter the behaviour of the Bin? Windows provides umpte...

Re: Activate Rubbish Bin in Mint 17 Cinnamon

Hi Nomko Files are gone for good, they are not so important. This is one part of the system that is just plain daft, everything should go through the bin, its a fail safe incase of mistakes. I realise now how it works but as an ex Windows user I am in auto pilot most of the time and I will lose more...

Activate Rubbish Bin in Mint 17 Cinnamon

Hi I have been running Mint 17 Cinnamon for a few weeks now and I have found my way around most of the OS, I am really impressed with Mint and wont be returning to Microsoft. One thing that has me baffled is the Rubbish Bin, whats the point of it? Nothing ever goes to the Bin when deleted, I have lo...

Re: Skype crashes, can't install ia32-libs

The fix above worked for a while then sound problems returned I came across this fix searching other forums and it has worked for me so far It seems pulseaudio looks at the mic as a stereo device but in fact it is mono. Since right and left are 180 degrees out of phase the mic signal is eliminated (...

Re: Second hard drive invisible to PS3 Media Server

Thanks for all the help, Im afraid I dont understand half of the suggestions that have been made. I have simply gone through the media server programs on offer and the last one on my list XBMC looks promising so far, my TV sees XMBC and XMBC sees my storage drive . I have taken the easy option here ...

Re: Media Server programs

Hi guys After trying every suggested Media Server program out there XBMC is the only one that sees the second hard drive "out of the tin" and is also visible to my LG TV. Only time will tell how XMBC will perform but so far all looks well, I was just about to ditch my SSD and install Mint on my main...

Second hard drive invisible to PS3 Media Server

I am trying to run a media server program in Mint, the only one that has installed succesfully for me is PS3 Media Server but it does not see my second hard drive containing my media files. Mint is installed on an SSD drive, I disconnected the second drive during installation to protect my files. I ...

Partitoning tools

I have switched over to Mint from Windows 8.1, everything went fine and everything works like a charm. When I switched to Mint I installed the OS on an SSD drive which is formated to the default file system of Mint, I was hoping that I could just leave my 2TB storage hard drive as NTFS but I cant. I...

Re: Media Server programs

Thanks for all the suggestions but Im afraid I didnt get any where with any of them on this new release, all the suggested programs caused problems and do not appear to be fully compatible with Mint 17 as yet. I eventually came across this article on PS3 Media Server http://www.noobslab.com/2014/01/...

Re: Can we please have a Linux Mint bare bones release?

Bare bones was perhaps the wrong choice of words, as a lot of members have said what many of us really want is some choices on installation. A choice of browser, perhaps SoftMaker or Kingsoft Office as an alternative to Libre Office, and so on. But I have found a flaw in my own argument. Apparently ...
