Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

I installed the kernel you suggested and it was a no-go.

I'll go the Ubuntu route, even though I don't want to, and if you can think of anything else, please let me know. I really appreciate all of your help!

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

That TLP command did nothing. It just put me back to a prompt. I found the following in my router that had a drop down box to only choose one of the options: Compatibility Mode: 802.11b/g/n Legacy Mode: 802.11b/g Performance Mode: 802.11n It was set on Compatibility Mode, so I'm switching to Legacy ...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

I made the change and will test again. What do you mean by, "What model is my FIOS?" Do you mean the brand/model of the router? If so, it is an Actiontec, model: MI424WR-GEN3, Firmware: 40.21.10.3 (current-up to date) BTW, there are a TON of settings on the router and I happened to notice that IPv6 ...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

To check the country code that is set iw reg get cat /etc/default/crda | grep -i regdomain and there is a third one I never hear anyone talking about is cat /sys/module/cfg80211/parameters/ieee80211_regdom First: country US: (2402 - 2472 @ 40), (3, 27) (5170 - 5250 @ 40), (3, 17) (5250 - 5330 @ 40)...

I just tested again, by direct downloading about 7 Mint .iso simultaneously. It can't be Transmission or torrents only.

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

I found this http://askubuntu.com/questions/465848/frequent-deauthentication-from-wifi-reason-6-in-ubuntu-14-04 But I think we already set the country codes or at least one of the settings were correct. It appears that most of the messages in syslog are from IPv6 WOW! Some of that stuff is striking...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

The weird thing is that, again, it just started when Mint 17 was installed. Like you said, it may be a combo of things: 1. Mint 17 changed some interaction with the way it handles the wireless conversation with my router that it doesn't like, even though fresh and multiple kernels were tried. 2. The...

Very interesting. As soon as I started the stress testing via torrents, no more than 5mins I was disconnected.

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

Not sure about Verizon FIOS, I don't have access to the fancy stuff but I use a US Cellular mobile hotspot. Is there a router log of any kind to compare to dmesg. Most of the info I find on deauthenticated by local choice- reason 3 is older, prior to LM 17/Ubuntu 14.04 some problems were solved by ...

Re: Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

Forgive my ignorance, but what am I looking for when I use: dmesg | grep -i tlp All I get is a return to a prompt. I see no output. No output means no mention of tlp in the system logfile. I will do some searching to see if there is a tlp logfile Sound good. TLP is supposed to be a good program for...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

You might want to try a new router also as I have seen issues with older routers About the only thing I haven't had you try is sudo modprobe -rv iwlwifi sudo modprobe iwlwifi swcrypto=1 You haven't installed any kind of power management programs? *Sigh* It worked for about an hour of stress testing...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

ls /lib/firmware/intel And go into network settings, to the right of where your router is listed, there should be an arrow, clicking on the arrow should get you to another screen where you can click settings to edi t the connection. Choose the IPv6 and select ignore for IPv6, save Here is the outpu...

Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

In auto, the router likely searches for a channel with the least amount of noise or receiver signal strength which in most cases should be the best as far as data transmission rate is concerned. I will look at the LM kernel update when I get home to see if there is something that looks like it migh...

Re: Re: Mint 17 wifi issues vs 16

Is there any way to reverse that for the moment while you still rack your brain? At least I'm glad it's not just me having issues! LOL! Wow, didn't expect that. A reboot will work or sudo modprobe -rv iwlwifi sudo modprobe iwlwifi] On my atheros card, I get the opposite happening, it prefers that d...
