Has Gparted been modified?

Has Gparted been modified on the live LMDE3 beta disc? The right click on a partition didn't produce the expected result on a drive with an existing OS. Howerver, it did successfully install and the pre-existing home directories seem to be fully functional.

RT5370 can't connect/disconnects from neteork [Solved]

The live LMDE3 beta disk disconnects from the network when using Ralink RT5370 Wireless Adapter. (Ralink RT5370 Wireless Adapter driver: rt2800usb v: 2.3.0 usb-ID: 001-005) It is a known bug with Debian 9. The fix is to edit /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf with the following command: sudo xe...

Re: Question regarding flow of video drivers.

It basically has to do with the kernel, driver, and xorg versions. So it's not a Mint or Ubuntu specific issue, it affects all Linux distros. Go to the Gentoo forum and see how much their users ... who are very knowledgeable, you need to be if using Gentoo ... are juggling their kernel versions. Ho...

It doesn't seem to have been a video problem per se.

By removing the IDE drive, disabling the IDE channels in the bios, and running solely on a sata SSD drive the problem has been solved.

New information, interesting.

I don't think I've posted this before but I found that LMDE 3 works on all my systems, solid as a rock. As a consequence of that I gave Mint 19 Cinnamon another go on one x64 system without any better results. So that led me to tinker with the hardware a little and it seems that by running solely on...

Re: Question regarding flow of video drivers.

Linux Mint 19 uses the Linux kernel and graphics stack from Ubuntu 18.04. So yeah, likely issues you're having would carry over to other Ubuntu 18.04 derivatives. Thank you, xenopeek. I have since found out that there is some kind of difference between LM Mint 19 x32 Cinnamon and XFCE vs Xubuntu 18...

Re: Mint 19 cinnamon 64 geforce video problem

Mint 19 x64 Xfce also intermittently scrambles new windows with the hardware above.

I'm going back to 18.3 x64 Cinnamon. Should this thread remain open, be updated to "Closed," or maybe updated with a different description?

Question regarding flow of video drivers.

Some background information; I had several Mint 18.3 systems that ran well but I wanted to install Mint 19. To make a long story short, one system with an nvidia card seemed to work ok with a new install of 19 x64 Cinnamon but sometimes new windows would be scrambled. I then installed Mint 19x64 Xfc...

Mint 19 cinnamon 64 geforce video problem [Solved]

I did a clean install of LinuxMint 19 Cinnamon 64bit on a system with an NVIDIA C61 [GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a] that was previously running 18.2 cinnamon without a problem. Mint 19 cinnamon 64 ran fine from cd but after install opening an app would sometimes bring a garbled or strange video effect ...

Re: How to download an older version of Firefox?

She's not alone. I don't blame her for not liking Firefox 57 "Quantum". I hate it. It wasn't an option for me, either, so I sought alternatives. I looked for forks of Firefox, and found several. Right now I'm using Pale Moon, which is a fork of Firefox, and has the user interface from the 4-28 era....

Xed with mouse focus unexpectedly closes, Mint 18.2

When using xed with mouse focus (generic usb 2.0 mouse) on Mint 18.2 a right click in the text entry area causes xed to sometimes unexpectedly close. It appears to be a timing issue because it only occurs when switching from another app, for ex. firefox, and right clicking in the text area quickly. ...

Re: Copy/paste problem on USB stick

On an older version of linux mint I had trouble with a 64gb usb drive but solved it by installing exfat-fuse and exfat-utils. If the drive is greater than 32gb then check to see if they are installed. (My 18.1 seems to have installed them, but that may be because a large usb drive was detected durin...

RTL8188cus (0bda:8176) stops working after inactivity [solved]

The RTL8188cus (0bda:8179) stops working after x amount of inactivity. The crude work around I came up with is to send a ping every ninety seconds. That works, but I was looking for a way to fix the problem permanently and came across this page https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/rese...
