Re: [Solved] Free VPN recommended?
I would not recommend free VPNs.
You get what you pay for.
PIA costs me $NZ14.26 per month, thats $US10.26...surely you can afford that, unless you are unemployed, then I guess a freebee is the option for you.

I also use Private Internet Access, and have done for some time now. I find their customer service top notch and have never had any major issues with them. There are some concerns that I have because I am in New Zealand, and we are part of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Ca...

I am really happy with Brave. Been using it for around a month now. I still use Firefox and Chromium at times, but Brave is now my go-to browser.

Re: [SOLVED] Peculiar desktop behaviour
Do take a look in your Desktop folder to see if there's a Desktop folder inside of it. It may have some files you want in the higher directory. Just before I fixed the XDG user directories file I found a Desktop folder within another folder in /home directory. I have no idea how on earth I did that.

[SOLVED] Peculiar desktop behaviour
Hi there all, Yesterday I noticed that the files, links, and directories that I have on my desktop had vanished. The trash icon remained, as did the removable-drives icons and conky. When I looked in the Desktop directory in Nemo there they were. I just copied and pasted them back to the desktop gui...

Re: Aptik question
Thanks Pierre, I have tried to resize the partitions via Gparted, but I can't get it to work. When I had 19.3 I could drag the left side of the /home partition to the right, then drag the right side of the / partition to the right to meet it. With mint 20 when I drag the left side of the home partit...

Aptik question
Hi there everyone. I have Aptik back up everything. If I do a new installation of my OS and resize / and /home, will Aptik restore everything again. Will the resizing of the partitions affect Aptiks re-installation of everything? My objective is to increase the size of /? I am running Mint 20 Cinnam...

Re: Libre Office Calc problem
Thanks for your reply Kadaitcha Man, but that box is checked. The other calculations in the spreadsheet work ok, they auto-calculate, it is just this one that does not calculate, the sum of the income/outcome. Although, I have just discovered that if I simply hit F9 while highlighting the balance ce...

Libre Office Calc problem
Hi there, I have a problem that seems to have occurred since the last update of Libre Office. I am on version 7.0.2.2. I use a spread sheet for a basic budget (and that's all I use Calc for, so I am not that familiar with it) where I have some rows at the top showing my incoming, and rows beneath sh...

Re: No sound in Chromium browser
Vladimir000, yes it was only affecting Chromium.
MrEen, I had installed pulse audio but it was getting late and I was tired, so off to bed I went.
When I booted up this morning it is working. The one thing I did not do last night has rectified the problem.
Thanks to both of you for your replies.

Re: Clean install 20 or along side 18.3
Hi there MyM, I recently did a clean install of Linux Mint 20, moving up from 19.3. I had the same concerns about settings etc being lost. I discovered Aptik: https://teejeetech.in/aptik-3/ which saved all of my settings from my 19.3 installation, and reinstalled them to my clean install of 20. Work...

Re: Firefox opens in another workspace???
Hi MrEen, I have tried that and it does not work, still opens in workspace 2. I have also tried right-clicking and selecting 'Make visible on all workspaces'. That will do just that, but when I go back to WS 1, and select 'Only on this workspace', it works, all the other instances are gone, however,...
