Re: Can I run Cinnamon on this machine?

Everything was working good, but then did some testing to see if I could replicate the Double Icon issue some are having with Upgrades to 19.3 and now the Chromium issue is back!

Re: [SOLVED] Just want to install Linux Mint 19.2 and use it

Using "Something Else" does take a little experience, or a good video. Even I need help from time to time because I don't know a lot about the inner workings of Linux.

Re: Just want to install Linux Mint 19.2 and use it

Good to hear it is all working! Make sure to Update the System and Turn On your Firewall. What Drivers are you talking about? It looks to me like they are all working fine so don't go and try to install things you don't understand. Before doing stuff ask questions, or else you will cause more proble...

I just seen this same problem in another post, so youre saying this is due to choosing "Erase Disk and Install Linux Mint"???

Re: Just want to install Linux Mint 19.2 and use it

You installed incorrectly! Partition: ID-1: / size: 1.89 GiB used: 26.5 MiB (1.4%) fs: overlay source: ERR-102 You tried to install to a 1.89GiB Partition! What did you choose when Installing "Erase Disk and Install Linux" or "Something Else" ? If you want to see visually what you've done wrong then...

Re: KDE on future versions of Mint (+20)

@pcpunk How did you get KDE installed? I have been trying for a while and I keep getting told that it can't be installed due to missing keys. I'm sorry, I should have made clear that I "Installed" the distro, and not just the DE! I installed 18.3. So if you have further questions on Installing KDE ...

You need to move and grow Extended partition /dev/sda3 first, so then you can move /dev/sda5 and /dev/sda6
Thanks for seeing my problem, the procedure is under way as I write this. I'll post back the results when finished.

Thanks, pc

Re: Move Root Partition to the Left?

Definitely MBR! on sda

As you can see I already created 30gb partition at the end but would still like to know how to add 20 more to it by moving these partitions to the Left.

Is swap partition on? if yes, swapoff it.
I did not see that option in KDE Partition Manager as I think I had in the past with gparted and forget how to do it from a Live USB? Something like

Code: Select all

"sudo swap off /dev/sdax" ?

Re: Move Root Partition to the Left?

No, I want to use that 20GB at the end in addition to another 10-20GB=30-40GB maybe for another Distro, but thanks. Meaning, I'd like to have at least another 30GB For the new install, but prefer 40GB.

Re: Laptop: dual boot installation with Win 10

Yes, most if not all new distros based on Ubuntu will auto create a Swap File since 18.04 I think? It's hardly used if you have enough RAM so Partitions are no more really needed.

Move Root Partition to the Left?

Hey guys, I'm wanting to install another distro on my drive. I thought I would just install the Dreaded Windows 10 and Mint's KDE 18.3 in dual boot, which I did. But then I realized I could have squeezed another Distro in there if I had give more space. I could just install to a small partition crea...

Re: KDE on future versions of Mint (+20)

I should add that I very much miss KDE from Linux Mint, it was my first Linux Distro that I really liked. So much so that I just installed KDE 18.3 because I like it so much better than any other Mint Distro, or any other distro out there. I should try KDE Neon as someone said that is the official K...
