Re: ACPI Errors

Is there a better choice for older junk hardware like this to run without all these boot slowdowns?

Please, there has to be a solution to something so simple yet so irritating! Why can't Linux Mint devs get this right, for god sakes Windows got it right.

Re: ACPI Errors

Here is an example of this mess, this thread is 15 posts long and still no fix! How is something so simple made so difficult. Most posters say "what is the problem" or "why does it bother you" blah blah blah. But it is surely slowing the system down, is ugly and unessesary. https...

Re: ACPI Errors

Okay, after using Pjotr's method it is shutting down normally and avoiding the acpi errors, that's great!!!! This error below is gone too! I still get the "tty1 login" at boot though? It looks like it is for a very short time now though. "[254.902905] reboot: System halted" Seemi...

Re: ACPI Errors

Thank you very much, but now I get this. This is even after removing "acpi=off" I forgot to update-grub, rebooted and ran sudo update-grub and now I see this when doing a shutdown and cannot get rid of it: "[254.902905] reboot: System halted" I would love to get rid of the "...

Re: ACPI Errors

I guess my first test should be to disable acpi at boot but I forget how to do that? I also wonder why I see the "tty1 login" at boot? It goes away and then boot normally from there but it is a huge waste of time. What are the Linux devs thinking, this is a mess! I Disabled acpi at boot li...

ACPI Errors

I know this has been addressed in some other threads but I wanted a fresh look at it if possible to see if there are any better answers for me. I don't quite understand why the boot process is so bad in most linux distro's on older computers? This is a fresh install with my inxi output below dmesg. ...

Re: Finding Linux Info like pulling teeth [SOLVED]

Thanks guys! I didn't need to download it so didn't happen on that first link Fleumur left. "Linux Mint Releases"

The second one for Ubuntu I just misread or ended up on a different page.

It should be in the release Notes! That's what they are for.

Finding Linux Info like pulling teeth [SOLVED]

I was looking for a simple EOL for KDE 18.3 and all I see is: "Linux Mint 18.3 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2021. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use." So, what month o...

Re: Can't download Linux Mint 20 Ulyana today?

Hopefully someone else with better knowledge will try it. I don't have a clue. I installed Flash even though I didn't think that was it, still nothing. Must be something in Chrome, and nothing to do with Windows 7?

Re: Enable Password on Login

The only relation between the two passwords is that if your Login-keyring password happens to be the same as your login password, the Login-keyring is unlocked automatically when you login with your login password (but not when logging in automatically, which of course makes sense: Well, I'm strugg...
