Re: Update destroys installation

Same problem here:

And I agree with the #5 label, by the way. I think that update should be out for now on, otherwise more people will join the "club".

Re: broken packages after update unsintalled many programs

Hi, I had the same problem after the update. In my case was Okular, K3B and another one I don't remember now. It seems to do with all KDE packages: I can't get any KDE based programs installed now. Here is a couple of screenshots. http://i60.tinypic.com/2vvm6h1.png http://i59.tinypic.com/20ggpp0.png...

Re: A good PDF reader?

After I few days trying different programs, I think the best PDF readers (so far) are: Okular in Linux (it also reads Epub, CBR, etc.). Fast and responsive. Foxit in Windows. Unfortunately is outdated in Linux as you have mentioned above. Thanks you all for all the comments. I had no idea about the ...

Re: Firefox fails on some websites. Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 6

Well, I finnaly found the error. It was to do with the adverts. I used this plugin and everything worked perfectly: AdBlock Edge At least I'm able to tell the solution here, not in the Spanish forum as the topic was closed. Thanks for not closing the topic in here. This solution may help others. PD....

Re: Firefox fails on some websites. Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 6

Thepiratebay for example or the home page of linuximint. When you move the mouse over the menues, these crashes a litle bit. I've tried the same thing with Chrome and had no problem.

Another thing is that I see videos better on Firefox than on Chrome. Is that normal?

[SOLVED] Firefox fails on some websites. Linux Mint 17

Hi everybody, I noticed that Firefox fails with some websites. Chrome works ok on them. It's like while I'm moving the mouse over the text on the website dissapears and if I keep moving appears again and dissapears in other place. That happends for example on a websire with torrent directories. The ...

Re: Linux Official Exams

LPI is mostly interesting for yourself. If you want it to mean anything for job application, you go for Red Hat certification--those are recognized in the industry and will open doors to get a job. They are not free. You can see the exam objectives to figure out it those are a match for what you wa...

Linux Official Exams

Hi you all, I have just begun this adventure in Linux, and I was wondering if there was any form I can get a certificate. I know you don't need a certificate to learn and there are hundreds of books out there. But in my case preparing myself for a kind of exam encourages me to take it seriously. The...

Re: A good PDF reader?

Thanks you all! I found that Okular is better than Evince. Still Foxit is better than those two. Okular runs perfectly with almost all the PDF I have. There a couple of PDF that they were scanned and the files are heavy. In Windows 7 with Foxit I have no issues, but in Linux it takes a little to cha...

Re: Skype in Linux

If you both have Skype it doesn't matter what the system that it runs on is different. I have LMDE and downloaded Skype off the Skype website because apparently it's broken in the Mint repos. It's not even mentioned in Synaptic under LMDE. Just finished chatting with a friend in Thailand, I'm in UK...

Re: HP Pavilion p6 series UEFI issue

Some info I was able to glean from your story. 1. Legacy heredado probably refers to legacy USB function, ie mouse and keyboard. 2. You seem to have no option to boot in legacy (MBR) mode. Forget it. Install everything UEFI. 3. Windows 7 64 bit upgrade or 64 bit retail discs can and will boot in UE...

A good PDF reader?

Hi you all,

I used Foxit in Windows, and now I realised that the PDF readers available on Linux Mint aren't as good, particularly with heavy PDFs.

Which ones do you recommend me? And why not Foxit isn't available in Linux?

Thanks in advance.

Re: HP Pavilion p6 series UEFI issue

Thanks a lot srs5694 for all the advice!!! I'll have it a go first of all with WINE. I'm more than happy with Linux Mint so far, so having just this operating system may force me to learn it much better. I don't want to rush either, now that I have my computer running fine just for a few programs. I...
