Hi Brian & Clix Trix, Have tried .deb file.This just happened: My wife has a Toshiba Tecra laptop with Mint 18.3 cinnamon 32bit. I had both Canon and old HP printers on and the document she printed came out of the Canon. I had never set it up! I checked if Simple Scan worked but no scanner found...

Thanks Brian, I entered "CODE:SELECT ALL", "driverless" in terminal as user and sudo and recieved "command not found". I think I do not understand your instruction.

Had further problem with VPN/UFW????, returned to Mint 18.2 and now, no problems. All is good and thanks.

Sorry I thought the list at termbin was self evident, Etherape does not work with Mint 19. Excellent program until mint 19. I think it needs tuning which is way above my expertise. Thanks for bothering to answer.
