Xfburn. K3b is useless.
I have been using K3b on a regular basis for four years now without any problems. It comes default on KDE. The only time I have had problems burning a CD or DVD was because of certain media brands. My current choice for that is Memorex DVD-R. They have never failed me.

Re: Dogs?

The only things my dog asked from me is a good bed, lots of play time, a bowl of food, a bowl of water and a sample of everything I eat... :-)

Catweazel is right! I beta tested the 64 bit edition of XP for Microsoft on an Athlon 64 many years ago...
I used to develop drivers on it.

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”

Catweazel is right! I beta tested the 64 bit edition of XP for Microsoft on an Athlon 64 many years ago... My old Athlon system will still run the lighter versions of 64 bit Mint quite well. 32 bit hardware is becoming history for sure but 32 bit software will still run on a 64 bit system (probably ...

Re: Dogs?

I have always had at least one dog... My current companion is a female Border Collie / Labrador mix that is 13 years old and reaching her end days. When she goes I will get another dog. That is just the way I am. When I was a kid we did not have dogs at our house. When I turned 19 and had my own pl...

Re: Why are we so proud of our [Linux] OSs?

Last Wednesday I was at my lawyer clearing up some business and he had a Windows (probably 10) system running on his desk. Even with the big screen it looked like a toy. It also looked like every Windows system going. I could not wait to get home to my system that looks like a serious collection of ...

Re: Why are we so proud of our [Linux] OSs?

In my case, the trigger is Apple. I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and Mac user since 1994. I've been a Mac user until about 2011.... This company and the associated software vendors like Adobe and Quark have managed to make my life miserable. Printers, scanners, applications, fonts - oh God,...

Re: Why are we so proud of our [Linux] OSs?

I love my Linux Mint KDE system and don't mind showing it off. I am proud of it because it has worked without fail 24/7 for the past 4 years. My friends who are still using Windows think that I am some kind of genius or geek. I am not either one and I tell them that. The smartest thing that I have d...

Re: Just want to say been using Mint for 6 months Thank you

Just want to say that I have been using Mint for 6 months now and I don't think that in 30 years of using various Operating systems that I have found a better one. So thank you to all involved in it and thank you to those members of the forum here that help others when they start using Mint which i...

Re: A forum section for OS issues is needed

In the past four years with Mint KDE I have seen posts from people who think Mint needs a lot of work. Perhaps I have missed something along the way but Mint on my hardware (from an Athlon 64 to an FX-8350) has worked just fine. You can never assume that because you are having problems that everyone...

Re: What would you use if Mint wasn't available?

Currently Kubuntu is installed here on a multi boot with Mint KDE as the main system. With the upcoming demise of a dedicated Mint KDE distro I thought it to be a good idea to look around a bit. I am taking the "testing" of Kubuntu very slow as there is no real hurry yet. As much as I like Mint, it ...

Re: Should we have to adjust the swappiness value in 2018?

I have 16 GB memory and swap set for 18 GB for hibernate. I always set swappiness at 10 because it is an old habit. Since upgrading to the 16 GB memory swap has never been used on this system as far as I know.

Re: Forum has been upgraded (report issues here)

I just have a minor problem when editing one of my posts. If the post I am editing is the last one in the thread it sometimes will post as a new message underneath the post that was edited instead of replacing the original post. I am quite sure I did not use " but the pencil icon. This does not happ...

Re: Need a ISO based Back Up System

In my case REDO is loaded from a DVD. It is an Ubuntu system with REDO and other apps installed. There are quite a few other CD/DVD based utility programs like REDO and most can be found with an internet search.

Re: Need a ISO based Back Up System

REDO backup, simple to use: http://redobackup.org/ Have used it a few times in anger when I've managed to trash my system. REDO was the only easy backup solution I could find for striped LVM. But it also copies all unused LVM sectors. For normal backups I use QT5 FSArchiver. I have also restored wi...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

A well thought out roadmap is always a good thing to have in your back pocket. I also copy my Home to two different drives every week and to a third offsite drive twice per month. As it is right now I am testing Kubuntu bare metal on a multi-boot setup. There is also space reserved to test the KDE i...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

I am still testing Kubuntu... so far so good. For me preparing the partitions in advance works very well. In fact since my partitions were created a couple years ago (including a striped LVM for the main and 4 standard for bare metal testing) the partitions have not been resized or changed by me. Gr...

Re: Clam av warning

I am not an expert on Linux or Mint but I do know this. When I first came over to Linux Mint I was looking for a good anti-virus and anti-malware program. But instead of doing what I thought was proper at the time I read what the experts had to say about the subject first. I followed their advice an...
