Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

I have used the liveUSB for 18.2 and 18.3 from each DE and had no trouble booting in my laptop with the GTX 1060, and each install went fine. Just my 2 cents. ok, interesting. I just re-tried with a freshly downloaded copy, also using a USB key and I still get the same issue. If I replace my GTX 10...

Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

You've got to be kidding me. Nearly a year later and the latest iso still has these issues. Mint are really dropping the ball with this. All of the solutions given are ridiculously complicated and shouldn't even be necessary.

Re: Networking on Dell Optiplex 7050

ok, so that thread deals with a Wifi card which I don't have. I did try installing the 4.8 and 4.10 kernels as suggested but both refused to boot.

Re: Networking on Dell Optiplex 7050

Can you post a link? All of the results I get for your search term in the hardware section talk about video or sound issues. Basically the hits come from people posting inxi results.

Networking on Dell Optiplex 7050

I've installed Linux Mint 18 on my new work pc but I have no network support. Windows 10 Device Manager lists it as an "Intel Ethernet Connection (5) I219-LM". I've looked up my service tag on Dell's site but there's no driver support for Ubuntu. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this working?

Re: Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

None of solutions have worked for me so I bit the bullet, reinstalled my old gpu, installed Mint, installed the nvidia drivers and then re-installed to new gpu. All seems good so far. It's a somewhat unfortunate state of affairs though. Given Mint happy to offer other proprietry software for the use...

LOL, that thread is the reason I'm here:
If you followed these steps, but you are still unable to boot successfully, please make a new topic for that and ask for help.

@ Wheelspin Please refer to ....... https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=240057 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=226145 Thanks Michael but I have seen both of those threads. Mint 18 Live CD - Input not supported

So, I had an older Nvidia card running on Linux Mint 17. I added a Mint 18 partition on a second partition and it worked fine. I then upgraded my graphics to an Nvidia 1060 and it was all still good under Mint 18. I now want to put a fresh Mint 18 on the primary SSD partition to replace Mint 17. How...

Re: ACPI PCC Probe Failed

I have seen this message ("ACPI PCC Probe Failed") several times not being a problem. (got it myself and it didnt do anything) - try a previous Mint in the 17.x series. If that works, you can upgrade straight to 17.3. I was running 17.1 previously with no issues. Unfortunately I can't remember the ...

ACPI PCC Probe Failed

Following my trials and tribulations in this thread: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=212570 I replaced my SSD and installed a clean Mint 17.3. However, during boot I'm getting "ACPI PCC Probe Failed". This halts the boot. The only way I've found around it is to enter the Recovery co...

Re: Mint Update update keeps reappearing

The installation fails when trying to format the partition. I dropped out and ran gparted to do it manually and something interesting happens. I delete sda6 (/ partition), sda5 (swap) and sda3 (the containing extended partition) and leave sda1 (the 100mb system reserved partition) and sda2 (my Windo...

Re: Mint Update update keeps reappearing

Hmm, there was a power failure a few weeks back. I tried the advice in the article you linked but whenever I try to restore the superblock backup I get: $ sudo e2fsck -b 163840 /dev/sda6 e2fsck 1.42.9 (4-Feb-2014) Superblock needs_recovery flag is clear, but journal has data. Recovery flag not set i...
