Re: HowTo: Samba Browsing Problems Checklist

See that this topic is well aged, so I suspect a lot of the tweaks you suggest here, have been made. My question, has anyone done a GUI application that works, and is maintained for Linux Mint? One that can guide you thru all of this rather than having to check out all the .conf files and so forth t...

Window Manager and Window Tweak with Compiz

I enjoy use of Compiz, and the wobbly windows and such. However, it does appear to conflict with System Settings, Window Manager and Window Manager Tweaks. If I close out and log out of Compiz, and log back in, then Window Manager and Window Manager Tweaks works fine. Is there a work around or fix f...

Sarah has broken the mold in an age old problem,

I am not sure whar has happened but between the 17.3 Rosa Kernel and the 18 Sarah there exists major issues. Well at least 1 issue. 17.3 does not support a lot of the latest 3rd party applications when it comes to networking. In that if you launch an application that you got from the authors reposit...

Stream error - Samba

Does anyone know how to correct Stream Error when moving or copying from a Network AFP share, or Samba Share.
I am constantly getting transfers dropping over time when trying to copy large amounts of data around the place.

Re: Live CD customization

Look for 2 small apps, USB Stick Formatter, and USB Image Writer. They seem to work fine. If your flash drive had some custom boot of some other image, you can use the Disks application to remove all partitions off the USB drive before attempting to create the image. Now as stated can test in virtua...

Mint 18 XFCE and Broadcom WiFi

I have noticed, on my Dell Laptop I installed Linux Mint 18.2 XFCE edition. One noted thing, is WiFi Broadcom is my wireless card. I installed using a USB Flash Drive, instead of a DVD. When you boot the live flash drive, it sees the Broadcom WiFi and allows you to connect to your router. All good, ...

Re: Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” Xfce released!

When can we expect the update from 17.2 XFCE to 18 XFCE? It stated in the current release that there was a delay for XFCE. And can you remind me of the steps to perform the update? I think it is supposed to install an update application for this. I do plan full backup before attempting it of course....

Re: Using Grub Customiser

I have it and works great with Linux Mint 17.2 .. I discovered that if you want a background image, it has to be saved in .png format. I also saved it in 640X480 resolution. Gimp imge editor has an Scale which you can use to set resolution of any loaded image, and then you can export it from File Ex...

Re: Wish List

I'd really like to be able to record from a webcam. Tried on 10 different Mint 16 systems (Cinnamon, Mate, xfce), tried 5 dif programs (cheese, uvcme?, webcam studio, VLC, others...) as of right now all of them fail in one way or another. I'd also like a longer RC where things actually get fixed be...

Lets take all the wishlist ideas, and make out a list and have replies on here for Like or Not Like and you reply with a quote and paste in your X marks the spot responses. Then submit it to the Linux mint Team for review after Tallying up the list of Likes and not Likes, and putting all the Likes o...

Re: HowTo: Auto Mounting Samba Shares Using AutoFS

I tried this versus gigolo and I cannot seem to get it to do anything. There are no errors coming up. No mounted shares appear or can be used in any programs either. Is this method compatible with Linux mint 17 64 bit Qiana MATE desktop? The one glitch with gigolo is when you first start up the syst...
