Re: Just had updates for perl and libruby/ruby, only yarn installed and it uninstalled a lot of stuff and now dependency

I have tried to remove yarn, but then I get told : You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libruby1.9.1 : Depends: ruby1.9.1 (= 1.9.3.484-2ubuntu1.11) but 1.9.3.484-2ubuntu1.8 is to be installed ruby1.9.1 : Depends: libruby1.9.1 (=...

More impasse...See the circular error I get here. And to those who asked, yes, I am on 17.3 right now, 18.x can't work with my graphics card dpkg --configure libruby1.9.1 [sudo] password for phil: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libruby1.9.1: libruby1.9.1 depends on ruby1.9.1 (= 1...

Re: Just had updates for perl and libruby/ruby, only yarn installed and it uninstalled a lot of stuff and now dependency

What's yarn? I can't find it in the repos. Is it from PPA? inxi -r would be good. Edit - actually inxi -Fxzr . I'm looking at the 18.3 repo but looking at the Ruby version you might be on 17.x? And I know what yarn is now too - from https://dl.yarnpkg.com/debian/ stable main?? I guess the next ques...

Re: Just had updates for perl and libruby/ruby, only yarn installed and it uninstalled a lot of stuff and now dependency

Yarn is a package manager for your code. It allows you to use and share code with other developers from around the world. Yarn does this quickly, securely, and reliably so you don’t ever have to worry. Yarn allows you to use other developers’ solutions to different problems, making it easier for yo...

Re: Just had updates for perl and libruby/ruby, only yarn installed and it uninstalled a lot of stuff and now dependency

This might be worth a try: Open Synaptic --> Edit --> Fix Broken Packages. I already did that obviously, it does the same thing as apt-install -f I can show you what broken packages it says I have... : https://my.mixtape.moe/crgfkg.png It doesn't fix anything, it wants me to install one of those, a...

Just had updates for perl and libruby/ruby, only yarn installed and it uninstalled a lot of stuff and now dependencyhell

So, after installing updates to yarn, which caused kvirc, xchat, pidgin, libpurple0 and a lot of other stuff to disappear and the error I get is very strange, first time I get an error that something fails to install because resource is busy....that's a very windows type of error...anyway...just a s...

Re: What are good free open source streaming platforms? I want to make my own radio station

Thanks a lot, it helps a bunch. But I think I found, maybe the solution. A free site, that I pay the owner of on patreon, a mix of a image uploading place and also where one can record themselves with a 5 hour time limit, I only need 30-45 minutes to start, when you're done you press stop and there ...

Mint 17.1 - What is the very last kernel that's proven to work safely with it?

I run 3.16.55 but I can't help but notice that in ukuu, the last one with the -trusty suffix is 3.16.36-trusty. I know it has to be a 3.16 kernel, because when one installs a mint 17.3 iso, the kernel that's running and even checked as "Recommended" is 3.19-0.32, so I imagine 3.19 is for later. I wi...

Re: I can't find the screensaver settings

This bugged me all day, as I recalled seeing a thread not long ago but couldn't recall how it turned out. The answer is fairly simple. What you're looking for is called xscreensaver and it's still available in the repos. You just have to install it. Can be done with Software Manager or Synaptic (or...

Re: What are good free open source streaming platforms? I want to make my own radio station

I spoke of the very useful link (once I whitelisted the IP address, I meant web host, not registrar, but what administrollaattori linked me to got blocked by my weekly updated ipblock/iptables list, said it was VMIHOAG. I whitelisted it and there wasn't a rush of other undesirable hosts trying to co...

Thanks, I will unblock the domain from the link I was given to icecast, if I could run icecast from my VPS, it would be perfect, dunno why the domain is blocked, but I know HOAG is a german registrar, I think, right?

Re: What are good free open source streaming platforms? I want to make my own radio station

My pay-list for iptables blocks this domain, names it VMIHOAG. Not sure what that is, maybe it's just a hosting company with bad practices, they end up sometimes in the monthly updates.

What are good free open source streaming platforms? I want to make my own radio station

I read how it is so very easy to broadcast what you are listening to, but not necessarily while you do, as you can turn down the sound and leave a sizeable playlist, with Audacious. What would be a good site that's not some unknown place or a trial of a few days and then we're charging yet again for...

Re: mint (17.1) mate shows a black screen, then back to the login screen, log back in, all programs closed, as if I rebo

It's happening, again, but much less frequency, basically being logged out, I even now catch a bit of the internals and not a black screen then the login screen, I saw it closing programs and stuff going [OK]. Looks like it came from my video adapter, just after I installed amdoverclockctrl.amd64, I...

Well...I have a Radeon HD 7870...so no... I don't know why those session stopper applications were cronjobbed, but I commented them away and since then no more crashing after Chromium has been running for a couple hours. Might be useful to other people what you found there though. Driver5 Manager do...

Re: mint (17.1) mate shows a black screen, then back to the login screen, log back in, all programs closed, as if I rebo

I got it to stop by going into etc/crontab and commenting out the line that would be coming back and causing this 2-3 hours logout loop. I slept the whole afternoon up to 9pm and all's good, i stopped the screensaver and wasn't shown a login screen. Now, why would that even happen is beyond me. This...

Well, it ended up happening, only when Chromium was on...which is strange, here's the syslog of the last 15 minutes before being logged out to the mdm login screen : Feb 27 13:08:01 17 kernel: [138362.249359] [UFW BLOCK] IN=eth1 OUT= MAC=01:00:5e:00:00:01:8c:10:d4:e5:1c:50:08:00 SRC=192.168.2.1 DST=...

Hasn't happened again since I removed the php5 package. Whatever that cron job was being performed at root....I don't understand it, I'm pretty good with computers, but it's not how I make my money, pharmacology and neurochemistry is enough crazy language for me. Now to start Chromium and see what h...

Re: mint (17.1) mate shows a black screen, then back to the login screen, log back in, all programs closed, as if I rebo

Nah, as I log back in, the lock is still on the ethernet icon at the bottom right. I removed php5, the package, and we'll see. This shows up all the time and those 2 things, they are files.
