Re: Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

Why is a known non working application still offered in the repositories for Mint 19? Pinta hasn't been updated according to everything I've been able to find, so it probably hasn't broken. Something has changed, I would guess in a dependency. Some of the info in the stack trace seem to indicate it...

Re: Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

Hi rjd, 1.) Ksnip is not a KDE application it is a QT application packaged as an AppImage which is self-contained with all the requirements in a small 23mb file, so there are no other dependencies to install. It is also being actively maintained and updated. "Kolourpaint" is a KDE application. 2.) ...

Re: Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

Hi rjd, * If you want a really great screenshot (printscreen) application which can also open existing images and also has excellent painter functions, can crop and scale, upload to 'imgur", etc... try the wonderful "ksnip" application. It is available as an AppImage for super easy installation int...

Re: Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

I just tried installing it on my htpc (Mint 19 Mate, upgraded from 18.3) with both Synaptic (Package Manager) and Software Manager (after complete removal). Had no issues with installing. It showed up in menu under graphics as expected and opened normally. Still crashed, but not as fast as in Cinnam...

Pinta crashes in Mint 19 Cinnamon

I recently tried to use Pinta to notate some screenshots to assist another user. The program would open, and seem to be fine until I loaded an image. As soon as the image was loaded, Pinta would either freeze or crash to the desktop (i.e., close). Attempting to close a frozen instance would result i...

Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

this is in reference to a crash after a successful login. Only at the beginning. If you continue reading the author has the same issue: So I was able to reinstall cinnamon from the command line. It now allows me to log in, but displays the error: "Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently running in...

Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

It appears that someone was able to fix this in another thread https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=272538&p=1490863&hilit=libgl.so.1#p1490894 This is not a fix as it reportedly only allows software rendering, Also, this was a different issue than this thread is addressing. That thread...

Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

I too have the same symptoms; with the same error message as in the first post. I have upgraded 3 systems - the 1st is working well; the other 2 crash Cinnamon after login. All 3 systems were (and had been) running the 4.15.0-24 kernel before upgrading from 18.3 to 19. The 1st system I upgraded is a...

Re: Driver manager error: amd64-microcode not working <Solved>

Having just done a fresh install of Mint 18.1 Cinnamon 64-bit, I came upon this page after seeing the same message in Driver Manager - exactly the same, including the Version number (2.20160316.1). The issue this raises is that the processor (Ryzen 5 1600) in this system did not exist when Mr. Edd s...

Re: Get AMD drivers on Mint 18 [ONLY FOR R7, R9, OR RX CARDS]

I would like to confirm this as I just got a new RX470 working in Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon 64-bit (Cinnamon version 3.2.7). Before I did the install, I used Update Manager to install the latest 4.8 kernel (4.8.0.34-generic) . If you've not done this before, you need to click on 'View' then 'Linux ke...

Re: Hulu only will play adds but not the shows

Had the same problem with my htpc, running LMDE2 (Betsy) Mate 64-bit. Videos played fine until earlier last week, then during or after the first ad, would get text on a black screen with an error (3322 or 3323) that protected content could not be played. As this was only on Hulu, I let it go for a f...

Re: XFCE - Screensaver ?

While viewing videos on my htpc, the screen would blank after 10 minutes with no keyboard/mouse input. Obviously not desirable behaviour for an htpc. Turning off screensavers and power saving did not have any effect. Eventually, my web searchs led me to believe this was caused by the xserver. I test...
