Libreoffice 6.1 Calc: optimize row height streamlining

Hello, This may seem like a trivial thing, but I'm trying to understand why when I open the dialog box for optimizing row height, and with the pointer over the "OK" button, I can't just hit the enter key to set it- I have to left click or double click on the touchpad. I seem to remember having this ...

Re: I want a plain shutdown applet for the panel

rene, Thanks for figuring it out- I missed the part where the launcher has to be put in the menu first before it can be placed in the panel. And yes, I understand the dangers of an instant shutdown with files open- I think I'll try it for awhile and see if it causes me any headaches in the future. B...

Re: I want a plain shutdown applet for the panel

Yes, been there done that, as I said in my original post. I think the keyboard shortcut suggested by AZgl1500 will be the most expeditious remedy. I find it strange that a launcher can be put into the panel in Xfce but not in Cinnamon.

(SOLVED) I want a plain shutdown applet for the panel

Hello, 19.1 Cinnamon 64. I'm trying to pimp out my installation a little. I want to have a button on my panel next to the menu button that shuts down the computer with a single click. All I can find in the downloadable applets are ones that bring up a menu where you can chose either restart, shutdow...

Re: [Solved]How to find Mint version number

Or: by menu: press menu key, type "sys", choose system Info. This works with Cinnamon, not sure if it's the same in other DEs.

Re: Can't make changes to display settings due to strange error message

Hey I think I fixed it! I Googled "XRANDR_2 was not provided by any service issue with Cinnamon Display settings ", and the last poster suggested enabling "Cinnamon Settings Daemon xandr" at startup- I guess I disabled it thinking it would still start and run when needed, but apparently not. Thanks ...

(Solved) Can't make changes to display settings due to strange error message

Hello again, Mint 19 Cinnamon 64 bit on a Lenovo T520 with 8 GB ram. This time I'm running into a problem when trying to make display settings changes- I keep getting this error message: "Failed to apply configuration Error:freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.cinnamon.SettingsDaemon....

Re: (Solved) No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

Ok, after rebooting the laptop later, it was back to no sound again. I went through everything again and found that what actually worked in the end was to override one of the unconnected pins to internal speaker- pin #0X13 in my case. I checked the box for "set model = auto". I found that it was imp...

Re: No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

Nevermind! The Sound app test now works- I'm not sure what I did, but all sounds are now functional! I guess sometimes mindlessly playing around with settings can fix things instead of screwing up the system, which seems to be what I usually do.
Thank you so much for your help!

Re: No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

Ok! That's what I must have done! I was playing around with the Alsamixer thing and must have inadvertently changed something. I still don't have any system sounds though. What does the beep column in Alsamixer control? I unmuted it and now I can get a click sound when I change things.

Re: No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

OK, that's weird but exciting! I was bummed out about the last failed attempt but then suddenly began hearing sound from the speaker, from a video window on a web site. The I reopened the video I was using before and it has sound now too! Maybe I needed to reopen VLC player after each change? But I ...

Re: No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

Thanks! I tried overriding all of the pins to the internal speaker, internal speaker (LFE), and internal speaker (back) with no luck- no speaker sound. I did hit the apply button each time. Anything else I can try?

(Solved) No sound from speakers on Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook

I just bought this old Panasonic Toughbook CF-52, installed an SSD with Mint 18.3 64 bit Cinnamon already installed from a previous machine, and everything mostly works except for the speaker sound. Sound from the headphone jack seems normal. The speakers show up in the sound control- just no output...

(Resolved- just need to wait for update) Firefox- how to manually update?

Hello. I'm using Firefox 57.0.1 and yesterday my banking web site refused to work giving me the warning that my browser was out of date. If offered to send me to various browser web pages to get the latest versions, including Firefox. I was puzzle, since I ran the updater and everything seemed to be...

18.2 Cinnamon seems slower than 17.3

Hello, after upgrading from 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit to 18.2 64 bit Cinnamon on my Lenovo X61, the menu seems laggy and I've noticed a definite slower response in Firefox, especially when typing emails. I have 4 GB ram installed. Is this caused by changes in the Cinnamon DE, the latest kernel, Firefox, ...

Re: (solved) updater broken after last major update

Thanks Mute Ant- that fixed it right up. However, now my Grub menu doesn't seem to pick up the latest kernal I download and want to run, and instead shows all of the old kernals I've already deleted. How do I update the menu?
