Re: Unable to 'Open as Administrator' in Caja.

Just passing thru with nothing better to do! I have Mate 1.22.2 so Caja is 1.22.2-2 tricia. (LM 19.3) I get 'Open as Administrator' under File as xenopeek has shown & by clicking an empty space & by clicking on a folder so perhaps your old version is just not up to it? 'xed' is installed as is 'caja...

Re: "Add the Xapp status applet"

Out of interest may I add this: I had this window pop up after updating to 19.3 (Mate version) and I added it. The result was some panel icons which previously had been small and moveable were now large and fixed in place; you could not even delete them. Due to that and other issues I went back to 1...

Re: Firefox 52.9

Have you tried Pale Moon?

I have been using for quite some time and find it stable. It also has its own catalogue of add-ons and there is one that checks compatibility with Firefox add-ons.

Just a thought. :?

Re: How to set default browser?

Interesting that the system has to be 'cheated' that seems a little odd to me.

However I will think on it and maybe try it too but not keen on having Firefox (or other) sitting on the system.

Thanks - appreciated.

Re: How to set default browser?

Hello apt show palemoon N: Unable to locate package palemoon N: Unable to locate package palemoon E: No packages found That is fair enough I think as it is not a package as such it is a .tar locate palemoon.desktop /home/geopol/.local/share/applications/palemoon.desktop /usr/share/applications/palem...

Re: How to set default browser?

Hello, May I ask if setting palemoon as default should follow as: gvfs-mime --set x-scheme-handler/http palemoon.desktop as it fails with: Failed to load info for handler 'palemoon.desktop' And Pale Moon is not listed under Preferred Applications. I have tried: sudo update-alternatives --config x-ww...

Re: upgrade libreoffice

Termy , you make a very good and obvious point which I had not seen. I have had a rethink lately and got rid of some PPA's and a couple of 'deb' installs going back in all cases to the current versions supported on LM Mate. There are a couple of notable exceptions but that is down to me. No ...

Vasilis_K said: Libreoffice is since a few months officially using Flathub for distributing. So, installing it through it gives you always the latest version immediately after being released. No extra ppa's and stuff. Does Flathub update automatically like a PPA? I cannot see that it does and I not...

Re: Non Paypal donations!

Yo kc!di I had seen the post by xenopeek but I wuz sort of hoping that there had been enough (pleasant) pressure to get another option for payment. I could buy stuff Pierre but I am a non-material type so that is not really a viable option long-term. Bye for now. Ooops missed a couple of posts while...

Non Paypal donations!

Hi, I've seen the posts regarding this matter and wonder if the 'guys' have found an alternative yet to Paypal? I no longer use Paypal (Account or payment service) due to some issues. Likewise I no longer use Ebay because of their Paypal 'partnership'. Likewise (getting boring I know) I will not use...

Re: upgrade libreoffice

Hi, I tried the Flatpak download path and it failed. The files were there but no way to activate the actual application. The Menu entries were strings of code relating to the download! Not being at all code savvy I looked around and eventually just re-installed via Synaptic. I have also noticed that...

Re: Login window in 18.3

I see what you mean as having looked at the link you provided I can state that what I have access to is the 'old' 'login screen' functions.

Not the new ones shown in the link.

Maybe this particular bit has not been upgraded yet? Gone wrong?

Anybody else found this?

Re: Login window in 18.3

Well that leaves me out of it really although you could check to see if 'mdmsetup' exists in usr/sbin.

If it isn't there I assume it will need to be re-generated which is well over my head.
