Re: Disappearing Clock

I, too had to go to LCD to have time stay in task bar. Next logical question, is there a site I could go to or that would notify me when the "bug" is fixed?

Re: Persistence is not working for my live USB of Mint 19 [SOLVED]

RE: muteant

I want to add "persistence" as well, to a "live" LM 19.1X(Tessa) running on an 8Gb pendrive. Could you explain "how-to" accomplish this. I'm a bit confused at your reply to mcabel >>Fri Aug 10, 2018 5:21 am.

Time/date config. and add persistence

Running LM 19.1X "live" and the time/date disappears when/after I try to "set" it. Ok, so tried to move it to the left more (-> move) in task bar and it will not comply. So, let's just ditch the 'default" clock. What pkg(s) could I install that would give complete manageability? I recall previous LM...

LinuxMint on a "stick"

I came to this forum because my question is certainly "off topic"??? I tried to operate LM 17-18-19 XFCE "live" and "installed" from a pendrive. Had all kinds of "issues" doing so. Finally, someone told me to use "Puppy" as it runs from the RAM. OK, now running "Puppy" and lagging/freezing issues va...

Re: lagging and D/l issues with LM 19.1

OK, I wish to THANK Pjtor for his response. IF anyone is interested, it has been stated that running 'full install" from a pendrive isn't the best thing to do. And, reducing the swapiness " should " decrease the amount lagging. I guess I'll try running "live". Hope I don't have problems there. Marki...

Re: lagging and D/l issues with LM 19.1

RE: EVERYONE OK, getting no responses. Maybe I've worded this thread wrong, or perhaps, there's no one here that has experience with running a full install from a pendrive? So, I'll ask, can anyone direct me to a forum/help site/tutorial that might be able to address some of the problems I'm experie...

lagging and D/l issues with LM 19.1

Afternoon: Yesterday, I "installed" LM 19.1 onto a PNY 16Gb (2.0) pendrive. I'm having a multitude of issues already. First off, the O.S. experiences excessive lagging and freezes. I wonder if this will alleviate the more I use it? In keeping with that issue, D/l and "updates" also take far too long...

Re: Change UFEI to MBR for/with installation

RE: catweazel Ah...yes...the redundancy of using "O.S.". OK, really, it doesn't matter....pick any Linux/Ubuntu distro. I've used/tried 6 different ones. The point being it is the UFEI/BIOS has somehow been altered, possibly to GPT (IDK), but the difference between using LiLi, unetbootin and pendriv...

Change UFEI to MBR for/with installation

I "believe" i need to change the settings to UFEI/BIOS from GPT(???) Reason: when I use Unetbootin; LiLi or Pendrivelinux, the O.S's go completely berzerk (extreme lagging and freezing), yet when i used Rufus, all runs as it should. Rufus employs the option for BIOS?UFEI via MBR. I wish to put an O....

reset password in LM forums

I've looked all over this forum trying to find "reset log-in password". OK, I'll ask here. What do I do to reset my log-in password. Could anyone tell me where that piece of information is within the forum? And....BTW....how do I contact an administrator?

RE: scjet45 Absolutely and here's how: https://www.ubuntupit.com/top-10-best-things-installing-linux-mint-18-3-sylvia/. Although it says 18.3, the set of commands will upgrade to LM. 18 from 17.3 if executed properly. You may(?) have to run "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" a couple of times to get to 18....

command for apt-cdrom

I need to run the command for apt-cdrom to be able to designate the pendrive to APT. Terminal response: apt-cdrom is used to add CDROM's, USB flashdrives and other removable media types as package sources to APT. It wouldn't make sense to designate a USB port, so how-to add the USB flashdrive? Rick

Anyone play Never Putt? Hole #2 has glitch. It's like there's a wall/some blockade when you use the "short" route to the hole. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

17.3 xfce constant lagging

First, I should say that I'm running LM 17.3x live. OK, I used to run it that way and upgraded to 18.3. Since, every Linux/Ubuntu distro I've tried has encountered severe lagging issues. I, at first, thought the 'upgrade" to 18.3 was the problem, but I've tried 5 other distros and all experience the...

EVERYONE: I don't get to do this often, but I'm going to answer my own question. This is the way I got the latest version Opera installed.
