Re: Photogrammetry for Linux

I am trying to create 3d furniture and machines for a program called "SweetHome 3d". My objects would normally not exceed the size of a cupboard. Reading the reply I thought regard3d is the ideal thing and downloaded it. But to use it on Linux it has to be compiled by the user and that seems to exce...

Re: Photogrammetry for Linux

Thank you for that information. I looked a bit into it and there is an addon to Blender for photogrammetry. But it seems still in development and very work intensive, something more for experts. There are other descriptions too but it is difficult for me to understand (Portugese and French). Other p...

Photogrammetry for Linux

Is there any software to create 3D-models from 2D-pictures which runs on Linux-Mint? I only found visualSFM which seems to be quite old and complicated to use.

Re: Launch Odoo in LM19

Found a launcher in /usr/bin/odoo. it seems to execute but no window opens. When running in a terminal this is the output. I am intrigued by the last entry "Adress already in use". 2019-03-01 11:55:00,169 3386 INFO ? odoo: Odoo version 12.0-20190301 2019-03-01 11:55:00,170 3386 INFO ? odoo: addons p...

Re: Linux Mint Tablet PC?

No idea. I bought it new in Germany, handed it in Nigeria to some IT guys to connect to the hospital server. I use it to show how a tablet can be useful in practise. Maybe they have put the password. Acer should warn users about this security issue to take care of this as it can block the device. It...

Re: Linux Mint Tablet PC? ACER problem

My attempt failed at the start as I am unable to boot from USB. Somebody put in a BIOS-password and now I have no access to it. ACER China wants EUR 150 to reset it, ACER Germany EUR 45 but I need an address in Germany. Apparently it is not possible to remove the password for the user. I even opened...

Re: Linux Mint Tablet PC?

I will install LM19 on a Acer Switch 3 with an Intel 4-Quad processor this week. Will also try "touchegg" which is in the repositories and adds gestures. Will report on my results - if any!

USB-stick not readable in Windows

I have a USB-stick, formatted in LinuxMint 19 with FAT32, I have no problems reading and writing on. But if I take it to a Windows computer it will not read the stick. Permissions seem ok with owner read+write, goup read and others read. What could be the cause or how to prepare a USB-stick to be us...

Microphone with Google Chrome

I have libre mint 19 installed on a macbook air. Have been looking at voice recognition and the recommendation is a website called dictation.io which works with chromes voice recognition. But it does not record any input from the microphone. Alsamixer bars are moving showing the mic working. Where c...

Mailspring snooze error "Cannot read property 'id' of null"

(Solved) Timeshift fills up system partition

On a fresh install of Linux Mint 19 I created 4 partitions sda1 = efi, sda2 = system, sda3 = home, sda4 = swap. Timeshift filled up the system partition and it then refused to let me log in. Solved by booting from USB-stick and creating space. Then setting timeshift location to sda3 /home where ther...

Re: Sweethome 3d furniture libraries

I can answer my own question as I got a quick reply at the sweethome forum.

The libraries are in a hidden folder at /home/name/.etek/sweethome3d/furniture. To edit them with the furniture library editor the folder has to be temporarily renamed etek (drop the . for hidden).

(Solved) Sweethome 3d furniture libraries

I have Sweethome3d 5.6 installed under /opt/SweetHome3D-5.6 . Now I would like to reorganise & rename furniture but have problems locating the actual libraries. Had .sh3f files under /usr/share/sweethome3d/libraries but changes made did not show up in the program. Moved all files I could find to a t...

3d file conversation in linux

I find that subject quit difficult. It is often necessary to open a format with one program and save it in a different format to work on. Enclosed is a pdf file listing the 3d programs in the repositories (the ones I know off), the file formats they can open/import and the formats they save/export. ...

Re: Sweethome 3d Version 5.6

Well the question was is it safe to install in LM 18.3? I did dive in, installed it an so far it is running smoothly and quickly with no quirks encountered so far. Am using the program since a couple of years and it is quite useful for designing workshop or shop layouts. My flat is there and I chang...

Re: Sweethome 3d Version 5.6

Sorry, I did not explain clearly. I downloaded SweetHome3D-5.6-linux-x64.tgz from the sweethome website, unpacked it and did double-click the .deb file in the folder. It asked me to install or run and I just did run it. Loaded the Furniture libraries from the 5.3 installation and functioned well but...
