Yes, that's ok too, "But honestly", I guess your or whoever's pull request, and likely others', have also been ignored eh, thus far.? It'd be nice to also have our "Suggestions" sub-forum back, but alas, that's yet another dead topic chance. There have been 20 pull requests on t...

Gotcha... Re: /etc/default/grub settings file back up: where stored?
sudo cp /etc/default/grub /media/alan/backups/grub.bak to put the back up file on an external hard disk (mounted in /media)? Yep, you've got it. If your user has write privileges for the backup location you can eliminate the sudo Some basics of the Linux file system explained (under section 9) LOL,...

Re: How to customize date/time format in clock applet ?
Another thing that might stop it working is if you have removed or added the clock applet at any point as this will change the relevant dconf key address E.g if I remove the clock applet then add a new one the dconf key is now as below with object-n replacing clock . n is an integer number. /org/mat...

Re: How to customize date/time format in clock applet ?
Yep, same here. It has been that way for as long as I can remember. It shouldn´t stop it working though and I tested it locally before posting. If using the command line be aware that dconf write is very finicky about string formatting. It needs single quotes inside double quotes. In the dconf-edito...

Re: Geany Code Editor: New shell window opening in background
Another thing to mention that, in the Ubuntu Jammy default Python command in Geany was python3, but in the LM it is python. apt package is also python, not python3. Is there any Geany config file where I can change it? The default in LM should also be python3 . python as a command only exists if yo...

Re: partitoning using separate home folder drive
Are you still struggling with this? Basically you need to install with the "Something Else" option and change for relevant partition to be mounted as /home, but not formatted , and with no change to it's size . https://i.imgur.com/gdPNzvv.png You will also need to manually select and/or cr...

Re: How to customize date/time format in clock applet ?
Everything's in the title: i just installed LM 22 MATE and the clock applet doesn't offer any option to customize the date and time formats. I found some info online (like editing the org.mate.panel.objects.clock.prefs key) but couldn't make it work. The settings aren´t exposed in the GUI unfortuna...

Re: Geany Code Editor: New shell window opening in background
It appears to be a gnome-terminal issue in Mint 22 Cinnamon (Gnome Terminal version 3.52). It applies to both the Mint build and the upstream build of gnome-terminal. Doesn't apply with running geany in Mint 22 MATE with mate-terminal, but also doesn't apply if you install mate-terminal into Cinnamo...

Re: How do I set a login window wallpaper when my home directory is encrypted?
There is no workaround to not having your background image stored outside of your home. There a couple of system locations that are 'safe' for you to use both practically and by convention. 1) Use /opt/backgrounds or 2) Use /usr/local/share/backgrounds In both cases you would need to create the back...

Re: Changes to the Mint ‘Getting Started’ > ‘First Steps’ tab in 20.#
I personally think that the binary choice presented gave an illusion of lack of choice. Two layouts with minimal differences, both equally useless as far I am concerned as I can't work with a bottom panel. Actually I'll go further. I really dislike the default desktop layouts (both current and previ...

Re: How to define which Menu opens with Meta key on multipanel setup.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to completely remove the keybind. It requires a key to be associated with the menu. When you have the dialogue that says "Pick an accelerator" press backspace to clear the selection and leave the accelerator as unassigned (I am assuming you are using C...
