I forgot about this thread. It does appear to be an ownership issue, but the strange thing is that <ctrl>c, <ctrl>v works where drag and drop doesn't.
If I change ownership from my name to my name, it works i.e. no actual changes in ownership, just a, sudo chown -R $USER:$USER $HOME

Re: Change Color of My Documents Folder on Control Panel
right click on the folder (in Nemo, at least) and select the colour from the line immediately above the Properties item. If you open up properties, by clicking on the icon, you can change it to one of your choosing, too.

[wry comment] It's more likely your System 76 saying "This bloke is not using an Apple OS so I'm gonna stuff it up to force him to come 'home'" [/wry comment]

Re: No new dirt bike
I'm not fit enough to ride a dirt bike now, and have no desire to get fit enough to do so, even though I could! I do ride a road bike (Suzuki Boulevard C50). I've had to pick that up 4 times in it's life, I try and avoid that too, Fortunately all were low speed falls (at most 10mph).

I've played around with it since late last century. Fully linux (only 'cause of a bit of fruit) for only 12 months.

Re: inheritance questions
My Kids need for nothing, I lived by the motto "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it". They have all grown to be wonderful parents and people. Critical thinkers, all, some of their decisions, I may not necessarily agree with, but, that is...

Re: Nemo won't let me copy a file
Thanks Joe2Shoe, that could be worth investigating.
@KMD2023, I have not used keyboard shortcuts for this, I usually just drag and drop.

Re: Nemo won't let me copy a file
I moved to files off that hard drive to isolate that condition. The same problem occurs except, this time, I am copying across the network. SO: Same Problem, Different Circumstances.

Re: Nemo won't let me copy a file
It certainly isn't faulty file system as I've shifted all files to another drive and am now attempting to copy them across the network to my tablet. Same problem copy/paste works, drag and drop does not.

Re: Nemo won't let me copy a file
That might be the case, I shall investigate. I did discover that if I right click on the source file and select copy. I can then paste it to the destination. A faulty file system might be an issue, not that I've noted any irregularities yet.

Nemo won't let me copy a file
I am attempting to copy files from one folder to another (newly created) folder on the SAME Hard drive. Except nemo will not let me copy OR move a file to it. I can create a new file and delete files in the destination with no issue. It just will not let me copy "FileA.ext" From /folder1 T...

Re: In praise of close-by tourism
Depends upon how close to home you mean. My Home is Australia, and I have yet to visit vast areas of it. Of course if you mean, say, within an 100km radius, then, most of that is farming country..... Though there are some wonderful hills and not much water to see.

Re: how to set LO Writer to retain the Mouse Position in a document that is closed?
This might not work, but you could check in Tools/Options/"Load/Save" and check the "Load User Specific Settings with the document" box. Not sure if this is your issue, but could be worth a try.

Re: Linux Freezes Completely!
If you wait a while does the computer start working again. Akin to waiting in line for service. I've noticed that Linux does play the "hurry up and wait" game from time to time on my machine. (In my case, usually when copying files using Nemo)

Re: Is linux Mint supported by my hardware?
Welcome to the World of Linux. There's a very good chance that any of the varieties of Linux will run with little or no problems. One of my machines is happily running the latest Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop (the more resource intensive of the Desktop Environments) quite happily and it was n...

Re: Need to switch between two monitors
In System Settings You should find the "Display" icon, That should allow you to set whichever monitor you desire. I Have a couple of two "monitor" systems, one has the TV as the second Monitor, I can then decide which one I want to be primary in the display applet.
