Re: [almost SOLVED] ALL Add ons suddenly stopped working in Firefox 66.0.3

For those of us on LMDE 3, the fix should be in Firefox 60.6.2 ESR. ;)

Hasn't hit my repos yet but hopefully will be arriving soon (FF did actually break for me yesterday a few hours after I posted that all was well :? ).

Re: [SOLVED TEMPORARILY] ALL Add ons suddenly stopped working in Firefox 66.3

Mine are all working (but they never seemed to have gone down in the first place).
No studies enabled.
app.normandy.run_interval_seconds in about:config is set to default of 86400.

Can you see mine? I can see flags but not external avatars (so I can see Pierre's and mine but not Moem's, for instance).

Re: Curiosity Killed the Cat

I can't speak to the "quite intelligent" bit ;) but my work is radiation physics (rather much an applied subfield of nuclear physics) at a decently-sized research facility in the States. Not as cool as quantum physics but still rather interesting -- it's a good mix of "real" physics, applications of...

Re: Want to use SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Now Live! [Solved]

There is a fix for sound issues in Firefox while running firejail that MAY apply for you as well: firecfg --fix-sound Yes, do try this. :) If you're using an old version of firejail and can't upgrade (for example if you're on Mint 18 and don't want to install firejail outside the repos) this comman...

I'd probably use Ubuntu MATE for my laptop. Debian stable or Arch on my desktop, just depends on how adventurous I'd feel.

Hi Blue Baker,
Can I get the following info from you? Please run each of the following in your terminal and post the output here:

Code: Select all

firejail --version
libreoffice --version
Thanks!

Re: Mint 19.1 XFCE ignores WiFi intermittently

I'm not really sure (sorry!), but going off a common theme online for your wifi card, try sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source and reboot. Maybe this will help? :? https://askubuntu.com/questions/765584/is-it-possible-to-use-broadcom-bcm43142-wifi-in-ubuntu-16-04 https://askubuntu.com/questions/...

Unfortunately katoolin is known to be rather incompatible with Mint and cause lots of issues... :( https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=227423&p=1353854&hilit=Katoolin#p1353854 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=255444&p=1376889&hilit=Katoolin#p1376889 https://forums.lin...

That's nice of you, but isn't the entire point of Firejail that it restricts access to user folders as much as possible?
Haha, yeah. But it's probably better to run inside a loose firejail than not inside a sandbox at all.

I used to use Firejail but I found its picketyness about which folders I could access to be more trouble than it was worth.
I'm always happy to help with that. ;)

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

Wow! Talk about having tickets on yourself. I'll leave you to it. Had to look up the "tickets on yourself" expression -- we don't often have that in my part of the world. Anyways, no, not in the slightest. Just putting a bit of backstory out there since someone was apparently concerned about "playi...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

Oof! Yeah, sorry to have offended you, catweazel. As for the "playing dress-up physicist"... you're free to draw your own conclusions. I've said repeatedly that I'm a radiation physicist, not a cosmologist. It's no surprise that I'm a bit behind on the latest ideas -- I don't normally have to worry ...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

what do you mean we can't go back further? Because there is no further. Just like you can't measure something and tell me it's less than 0 meters long. ;) scientists make educated guesses that seem to hold up more validity in their community and anyone caught disagreeing is a heretic. Of course the...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

right, there was nothing. a definition of nothing is, it remains the same when you add to it or take away from it. how then can we have something out of nothing if the "value" of nothing hasn't changed? But here's the thing -- you're using the definition of "nothing" as it pertains to after the beg...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

do you then believe that if time is relative, math and physics aren't ? Yes and no, maybe?? "Relative" doesn't mean "fluid" in this context. Experiments have shown that time is constant for any single reference frame -- that is, you won't magically age from 28-40 in the same time that som...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

think of a number from 1 to infinity type it down so you don't forget it. make it as long as you like open your Calculator and try this. take your number and multiply by two x 2 = +8 = divide by two /2 = minus your number -x = ... 4 But that's exactly what we'd expect. All this process does is reve...

Re: [SOLVED] Hypothetical question about gravity

Haha, maybe so, but darkness isn't actually a "thing". ;) darkness is time or the constant or the denominator, the thing we can't explain with math and science. the thing that exists between light particles. we put too much emphasis on light being such a great energy, that it travels the fastest an...
