Re: Can't open Software Sources

WOOOHOOO Months later and random googling and I came across this again. Funny I experienced the same issue, after upgrading to 17.3 (considering the last one was after an upgrade to 17.2). But this time synaptic worked, but I couldn't add PPA's. my mintSystem.conf looked like this. 0000 0000 0000 00...

Re: MintUpdate not installing packages, just reloads

I have narrowed it down a bit: when i realised mintupdate generated a new logfile for each run I tailed one and then ran it. so heres the full output, it ties back to synaptic: ++ Launching mintUpdate ++ Starting refresh ++ Auto-refresh timer is going to sleep for 0 minutes, 0 hours and 1 days ++ Fo...

Re: MintUpdate not installing packages, just reloads

@GeneBenson

Hi, and no change.
Well now mintupdate still restarts instead of installing, but no more errors.

Code: Select all

++ Launching mintUpdate
++ Starting refresh
++ Auto-refresh timer is going to sleep for 0 minutes, 0 hours and 1 days
++ Found a new version of mintupdate
++ Refresh finished

Re: MintUpdate not installing packages, just reloads

So I managed to update the packages through Synaptic. But I discovered something. Synaptic 0.81.2 also does not open if I merely click the launcher. But running gksudo synaptic from terminal does work. apt-cache stats Total package names: 60418 (1 208 k) Total package structures: 102499 (5 740 k) No...

[SOLVED] MintUpdate not installing packages, just reloads

Hi Had the following issue on 17, it then fixed moving to 17.1, and then broke again, now updating to 17.2 didn't fix it. Steps: Open MintUpdate 4.9.3 (from tray, terminal, or gksudo terminal) Shows list of packages Click install - Nothing happens, either: reloads mintupdate and refreshes packages a...

Re: Can't open Software Sources

Just as a note. My synaptic ended up being totalled aswell. I ended up doing this sudo apt-get purge synaptic sudo apt-get install synaptic sudo apt-get install mintinstall mintupdate mint-meta-cinnamon Reinstalling synaptic worked, but it hauled out a ton of cinnamons update/install packages, this ...

JeremyB wrote:mintSystem.conf on my laptop contains

Thanks. that fixed it. software-sources opens.

Code: Select all

lsb_release -rd; lsb_release -sc
returns:

Code: Select all

make sure you install the nodejs package not node
make sure you have libusb-dev and g++ installed
use sudo npm install or you may get errors

Re: MSI laptop Dual Boot nightmare

Ok so have refind installed. It works very well, can get into Mint 17 without issues, with UEFI on. I still have some screwy boot entries from boot-repair that I will fix later. The problem now is my windows is still screwed. I think I know why. Its because I cloned it from another drive so the GUID...
