Re: Cinnamon crashes
The monitors at first go to showing the clock bouncing around..assume that is Mint's screensaver...the monitors then go black and the power lights on them flash like they are waiting to be woken up. A simple move of the mouse and the lights come back on and usually lately I am running in fallback mo...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
Please also check and verify in the Power Management app that you do not have the computer set to suspend. It's unusual for Cinnamon to crash if you are not doing anything and the computer is still running. Under power management : Power options: Turn off screen when inactive for : 30 minutes Suspe...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
OK..I was given the MB and processor like 5 years ago by my son. He bought a newer system. I have never updated the bios, so no I have no idea how the version # is higher than the latest version. It was having cooling issues, so I bought a water cooler, added an ssd and ram, and have used it as my r...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
Ok.. So yes there was a setting in my bios where I could designate integrated or pag. I haven't been able to access my bios in a while. So here's what I did. I turned off my pc. I took the hdmi cable plugged into the display port on the GTX680 and plugged it into the built in HDMI on the motherboard...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
just the screens. It looks like you ran the terminal command instead of getting the system information from the System Reports app. (That inxi command is not the equivalent of what is used for system information despite spamegg writing it as if it is.) Let's get some more graphics info because this...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
First off, thank you for you assistance Yes, the screens do turn off after 15 minutes. The pc has never crashed while I am using it, I wake it up and find Cinnamon has crashed, and it is running in fallback mode. I have used the weather app for almost 10 years now. I use Linux Mint as my personal pc...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
Is there a reason you ignored the very first suggestion? Crash reports are located in the System Reports app. Open that app and then click the Crash reports tab to see if there are any crash reports. Most of those repetitive screensaver messages are not a problem and everyone gets those messages ev...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
Crash reports are in the System Reports app. You can look into the Looking Glass or "Melange" app for Cinnamon by pressing Super+L. It might have some info. For Terminal you can look inside the /var/log directory. You can also use journalctl and look for lines that have Cinnamon: journalc...

Re: Cinnamon crashes
So isn't there a command for terminal that allows you to see crash events? I thought there was a way to see what was triggering the crash.

Re: Cinnamon crashes
Are you using any Cinnamon third-party Desklets, Applets, or Extensions? Try disabling / uninstalling all of them to see if it helps. Also I noticed some issues in your repositories. You are using 21.3 which is based on Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy, but you added many repositories that use Ubuntu 20.04 Focal...

Re: PulseAudio causing issues
Ok,
so far so good.
PC went to sleep, and upon being woken, no shockwave or PulseAudio issue.
I will continue to monitor this through out the day before marking it solved.
Thank you so much for your fast and helpful advice.
