Re: How to stop DOWNLOAD VIDEO message box in XDM?
PS: oh i see you probably have xdm autostart at powerup , so why don't you turn it off? /quote] If it was set to auto start it was done by default, I am happy to disable it and toggle it on when I want it. I thought by unticking the Browser Monitor it would stop the message box from appearing but i...

How to stop DOWNLOAD VIDEO message box in XDM?
I've been using the XDM file down loader and it's working fine, all except for the annoying message in the lower right of my browser that says DOWNLOAD VIDEO! I have tried to disable the XDM Browser Monitor to no avail, as soon as there's a video on any page, the message pops back up and won't go aw...

K3B kicking my butt!
Decided to try and burn an audio CD today ( yeah I know OLD tech) but I can play it in my car. K3B keeps telling me that I can't burn a disc with the files as mp3, OK fine so I convert them to a huge .wav file. Guess what? I drag that 1GB file into a new project and I get a message saying the file h...

[SOLVED] XDM Remove names of dn/ld files?
Hello, Been using XDM for the past few days and it seems OK. But I don't see a way to remove the titles of the video files, without deleting the file along with the name! Sure I can go into /downloads and MOVE the files elsewhere and then use "Delete Downloads" option in XDM, but that seems a bit po...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Hi MrEen,
Well I took the bull by the horns, at least I thought it was the horns, and decided to install the script.
Had a bit of trouble removing the script you made, due to my ignorance of all the terminal commands, but I got it removed. Now on to installing the new one. fingers crossed!

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
MrEen, Welcome back! Fortuitous, as I have been away too :D Well if it’s not too much trouble we (YOU) can put the script where it belongs and see what happens, but of course this is all on you, I can't be much help, if any with a script of any sort. So when you have nothing better to do and want to...

Hello again, The sound went off and I ran the short command and then the long one, here are the results: fred@Area52 ~ $ ps -fp 513 UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD fred@Area52 ~ $ dmesg | grep -C1 -E 'ALSA|HDA|HDMI|snd[_-]|sound|hda.codec|hda.intel' [ 0.068119] ACPI: Added _OSI(Linux-Dell-Video) [...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
trytip, I currently lost the sound and I ran what you suggested /usr/bin/pasuspender /bin/true The terminal responded with NO response at all. I will keep the computer on standby and not use W7, maybe something else can be tried while it's down? However using the dmesg line I got this response: fred...

use this for a bit more info extraction dmesg | grep -i "error\|warn\|fail" but use this code as soon as you boot into the desktop. if you use hdmi and you get no sound at boot or suspend, unplung hdmi cable and plug back in to see if sound comes back Trytip, Today the sound went out and I ran your...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Look if your ACPI setings is correctly declared in your bios, and if a upgrade of your frimware is disponible make a upgrade with it. OS sleep has always been a pretty tricky task to run with succes full. It is strongly discouraged to use this function if we have ssd on our systems because it is a ...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
I have not been able to lose the audio after many resumes from standby. It's either your script doing as it should or just the computer being it's contemptible self  Fine with me, I almost want to remove the script just to run the new 'dmesg' that was suggested by trytip. But now that we know...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Keeping what's running now is fine, as far as I'm concerned. I've got that page bookmarked in my sound troubles folder now, so in the future when you install a new version of Mint, we can go through it and do it the right way. :D I have not been able to lose the audio after many resumes from standb...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Haha! After all the searching I did trying to find out where to put a resume script, look what I just found ! I like mine better, though. Even if it makes me a hack[er]. You may wish to follow the steps there, and delete the killpa.sh script. That would probably be the more "officially sancti...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Ok about the line to make the file executable, if I run it now would it still do anything? I do however think I ran it after I created the script. No the only thing I do with the sound is change the volume or shut it off on occasion. I watch a lot of online railroad cams, and some of the trains are ...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
Was this resuming from a suspend? Or booting up from off? If it was resuming, try changing the 5 to 10 in the script. You still use gksudo xed /lib/systemd/system-sleep/killpa.sh to edit the file. I believe I changed from from W7 to Mint; never had it occur this way before, basically a cold boot.I ...

Re: It would be nice to find a solution to this intermittant audio problem
MyEen, Here's your script in the /lib/systemd/ folder. So far it seems to be working, the minute I don't have sound I'll know it's not. I hope it ended up where you intended, I get paranoid fooling around with being root and editing things I'd never have reason to. Thank you very much, this means a ...
