Re: LM18 Mate' troublesome menu problems..

Good evening. I have got the same problem today and have solved part of the problem on the following way: I checked the ~/homedir/.config/menus/mate-applications.menu file, which was containing 0 bytes (after trying to edit the applications menu). I ran a liveusb with mint mate 18, searched for the ...

Re: How to fix LibreOffice PPA not installing newer versions

Hi Xenopeek
It seems this bug continues with Mint 17.3, as it is now a few days Libreoffice 5.04 is out and there is still no update from 5.03 to 5.04.
Best regards

Re: Updates impossible

Re: MINT 17.2 RAFAELA RC1: SOME SMALL THINGS I SAW

@ Mike why dont you try to check the keyboards shortcuts: there are some shortcuts to dim and even shut down the screen backlight (in the "system" part). Maybe you have a conflict with your actual shortcut keys. I have got something like this with the audio volume at the beginning with 17.1. I chang...

Re: MINT 17.2 RAFAELA RC1: SOME SMALL THINGS I SAW

@ Cosmo Sorry to come back to You and disturb you again, but I tried again with the rule you sent me, by curiosity. Here is what I have seen I have completely removed my rule, disabled also my script in the startup programs list, and placed your rule instead (modprobe/rmmod) and restarted udev. I me...

Re: MINT 17.2 RAFAELA RC1: SOME SMALL THINGS I SAW

Good evening Cosmo The second problem is solved. I have given the user execution permissions to my script: When called only by my rule, it was working anyway, but when called by the startup program list, it was expecting an execution permission for a user level and refused to start with the root exe...

Re: MINT 17.2 RAFAELA RC1: SOME SMALL THINGS I SAW

Good evening Cosmo Thank you for your help. I think I misexplained myself: Sorry, The rule you indicate to me with modprobe and rmod has no effect at all on the 17.2 system (after naming it 01-touchpad.rules and cp it to /etc/uden/rules.d, I also launched a sudo udevadm control --reload-rules to res...

Re: MINT 17.2 RAFAELA RC1: SOME SMALL THINGS I SAW

Good afternoon Mike The 1st problem I mention is annoying for me as I am a translator and must type quickly in French, this is the reason why I use an auxilliary spanish keyboard (good for the main french characters), but I can cope also with my laptop keyboard as I just modified the latam layout fi...

Mint 17.2 Rafaela RC1: some small things I saw

Good day to everybody. I am trying the very last distro Rafaela with Cinnamon, and saw some small problems in the keyboard layout switching, which do not appear with Rebecca: Bug 1 Trying Mint 17.2 Rafaela Cinnamon (64 bits) version: I am using alternatively 2 different keyboards layouts (Latin-Amer...

LMDE2 Betsy installer window size problem

Good morning, I have just seen a small cosmetic bug while installing LMDE2 Betsy on a 1024 × 600 netbook: The installation software windows are too high in size and cannot be reduced, that means the buttons which are down the windows could not be accessed during install. Please when writing software...

Re: something wrong with text edit software in 17.1

Good afternoon Tenfoot
I just finished a completely new clean reinstallation as I saw other disturbances, it seems to be OK, possibly this was due to successive upgrade and updates, I will proceed the same way on my other computers.

Thank you for your answer.

Best regards

something wrong with text edit software in 17.1

Good morning and happy new year to all. I found something strange in the behavior of (pure) text editors in Cinnamon AND Mate 17.1 RBK (64 and 32 bits). I use mainly Cherrytree oy Keepnote for text organization, but I checked also with Geany, Pluma and Gedit. In all these software, LINE WRAPPING FUN...

Re: What are you most dissatisfied with in Linux Mint?

I love Mint, it is a remarkable system, BUT I had to struggle a lot in installing 32bits only applications (my system is 64 bits) and all these missing but often used 32 bits libraries should be installed automatically in the system. Also they are sometimes dispatched in repositories which are hard ...

Hello from Peru

Hi to all, I am a 58 years old french Linux Mint user, I use it daily since 18 months, and very happy with it, (Cinnamon edition). Prior to Mint, I also used to dive in Ubuntu, Mandriva/Mandrake, Red hat (when it was free), Fedora Core and OpenSuse since years 2002..2004. The one I used most intensiv...
