Best Podcast App?

Hi, I'm looking for a new Android podcast app that is compatible with Linux Mint 19.1. Ideally, I'd like to find one that can be synced between my phone (Android OS) and my desktop and laptop which both run Linux Mint 19.1. Any suggestions for one that is reasonably secure and does not gather inordi...

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello, An update: I just upgraded to Linux Mint 19.1 (which I love, so far). Although the release notes for it reference some problems with scanning, I have not experienced them. I can now use Simple Scan without problems. It worked without me having to perform any changes or download/install any ne...

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hi, Thanks again for the additional info. I'm going to try these out over the next couple of days. I'll reply when I'm able to scan or have reached another dead end. But, in the meantime, yes, I am able to quit Simple Scan each time without problems even though the program doesn't detect my printer....

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hi Eric, Thanks again. I went to the Canon website I listed previously and from the drop-down menu to just the Linux OS. That took me to this website: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/inkjet-multifunction/mg-series-inkjet/pixma-mg3620?tab=drivers_downloads ....

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello Eric, Thanks very much for your quick reply and suggestions. I tried waiting (more than 7 minutes) for the drop-down to populate from the Preferences menu in Simple Scan, but, alas, it doesn't do so. I am able to see and access my printer from the the localhost:631. But from there, I can't fig...

How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello, I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3 Sylvia (64-bit). I have a Canon PIMXA MG3620 that is connected with a USB cable. I am able to print just fine. However, Simple Scan doesn't detect that printer (even when it's turned on and I've confirmed that it is not asleep). I get an error message that...

PIA or AirVPN? Which is Better?

Hello, I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3 Sylvia (64-bit). I have an Asus RT-N66U router. I'm trying to decide on a VPN provider. I see that PIA appears to already be more or less set up. But I discovered AirVPN when looking for VPN information on these forums. In your opinion, which is better? Th...

Firejail Setup & Use?

Hi,

I'm running Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit. How do I setup and use Firejail? I just obtained it through the Software Manager. Are there simple how-to instructions somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Re: gnome-keyring-daemon not responding [Solved]

Hi, Thanks for posting these workarounds. I just installed Linux Mint Sylvia 18.3 Cinnamon-64 bit. I get the gname-keyring-daemon not responding when I try to shutdown. I have not been monitoring whether it only occurs when I use certain programs. My question is what are the advantages/disadvantages...

Re: Skype 8.13.0.2

Thanks. I appreciate your "for now" comment. Who knows how long it will work or what the consequences will be (security or other) from the earlier version not being current and Microsoft not supporting a Linux version of Skype. I was able to log on using the web version to send texts and chats. But ...

Re: Skype 8.13.0.2

Hi, I too am trying to get Skype to work properly. I'm running Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya. I downloaded Skype version 18.13.02 for LinuxDeb from the Skype website. It loads, but I can't get any audio output to work. I double checked all my system volume setting and that my headset is the source for both ...

Re: Desktop Icons

Hello mrspock, Thanks for your suggestion. I was having the same problem too with Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya: when I turned off auto-arrange and auto-grid for the Desktop, the icons would not stay where I moved them. But by going to Preferences, then Desktop and then making sure that "Show desktop icons ...
