Yubikey or Google Titan - which do you prefer?

Hello, I'm going to start using a security key. I'm currently considering either a key from Yubico https://www.yubico.com or Google - https://cloud.google.com/titan-security-key/ . I'm wondering which one is preferred for use with Linux Mint (I currently run Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon, but will probab...

Latest & Greatest for File/Folder Encryption?

Hello, I'd like to encrypt some folders as well as individual files on my hard drive. I am running Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon. I found a 2017 thread discussing VeraCrypt. Is that still the best for encrypting various types of individual files as well as folders? It appears to still be actively maintai...

Best Podcast App?

Hi, I'm looking for a new Android podcast app that is compatible with Linux Mint 19.1. Ideally, I'd like to find one that can be synced between my phone (Android OS) and my desktop and laptop which both run Linux Mint 19.1. Any suggestions for one that is reasonably secure and does not gather inordi...

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello, An update: I just upgraded to Linux Mint 19.1 (which I love, so far). Although the release notes for it reference some problems with scanning, I have not experienced them. I can now use Simple Scan without problems. It worked without me having to perform any changes or download/install any ne...

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hi, Thanks again for the additional info. I'm going to try these out over the next couple of days. I'll reply when I'm able to scan or have reached another dead end. But, in the meantime, yes, I am able to quit Simple Scan each time without problems even though the program doesn't detect my printer....

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hi Eric, Thanks again. I went to the Canon website I listed previously and from the drop-down menu to just the Linux OS. That took me to this website: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/inkjet-multifunction/mg-series-inkjet/pixma-mg3620?tab=drivers_downloads ....

Re: How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello Eric, Thanks very much for your quick reply and suggestions. I tried waiting (more than 7 minutes) for the drop-down to populate from the Preferences menu in Simple Scan, but, alas, it doesn't do so. I am able to see and access my printer from the the localhost:631. But from there, I can't fig...

How to use Simple Scan with Canon PIXMA MG3620?

Hello, I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3 Sylvia (64-bit). I have a Canon PIMXA MG3620 that is connected with a USB cable. I am able to print just fine. However, Simple Scan doesn't detect that printer (even when it's turned on and I've confirmed that it is not asleep). I get an error message that...

Re: Skype 8.13.0.2

Thanks. I appreciate your "for now" comment. Who knows how long it will work or what the consequences will be (security or other) from the earlier version not being current and Microsoft not supporting a Linux version of Skype. I was able to log on using the web version to send texts and chats. But ...
