Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

It's heartening to know that I'm not the only one with this problem that seems to have no solution. Before anyone asks, like the person in the following post, it's only the flashing cursor that moves and deletes things..the actual mouse pointer stays where it is; https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtop...

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

Thank you, Deepak.

Unfortunately, it didn't work and when I typed in the final command, this is what came back:

mintfre+ 6578 0.0 0.0 11748 2216 pts/1 S+ 00:25 0:00 grep --colour=auto syndaemon

As mentioned earlier, I already had touchpad disabled.

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

Please try this. Instructions on the right side of the page. https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/tips#TOC-Disable-the-touchpad-uhile-typing-with-a-delay-of-one . Thank you, Deepak but not sure I understand which parts you want me to look at in that link. The touchpad is already disab...

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

Sigh. Thought it was partially better, but it's not. Same problem.

Searching around the internet and it doesn't seem like anyone with this same issue has found a reliable solution - or if they have, they've perhaps forgotten to report it back to the community.

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

Seems to go at least partially back to normal when I press the Fn and F9 keys on my Asus laptop (disabling the touchpad in LM didn't seem to do anything) but it doesn't fix the problem entirely. Typing in here, for example, the problem still persists quite badly. It's slightly better in Gmail, thoug...

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

I disabled the touchpad back in June but the problem persists, so not sure if there's another setting somewhere else affecting it? Im not all that savvy with technical stuff.

Also, yes tried the live boot. Nothing changed.

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

All good...got it the second time around.

Cursor still jumps around - I opened a Libre Writer doc in the new account and the cursor still jumps, deletes words mid sentence and even deletes entire paragraphs while typing (or trying to).

It's really getting out of control.

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

I don't know what you mean by 'new test account' but a couple friends of mine have been having the same problem so they simply stopped using LM because it's annoying and no one seems to know what changed to cause it in the first place. I have tried on friends pc's, though, just to confirm it's the s...

Re: Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

You did not tell the destop environment. If you don't know open a terminal and enter: inxi -Sz Paste the output here. Create a new user account and check the behavior there. Does the problem in a particular program or in any? [/i] Sorry Cosmo - I'd given up and gone back to Win 10. Even trying to r...

Jumping cursor only in LM, not Win 10

Having problems with a jumping cursor - it will also randomly and suddenly wipe out entire sections of text, which is frustrating when you're working on something important. I've watched what keys my fingers touch (not easy for a die-hard touch typist) to see if anything in particular sets it off, b...

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Perhaps posting a Gparted screenshot of SDA might be helpful in effort to get installation partition(s) right... GParted? I'd purchased Mini Tool Partition Wizard earlier on to merge C and D drives (in Windows 10 before trying to install) and allocate 500GB of free space, which I thought was all I ...

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Yes, sda is 500GB.

Will have to look up how to all that tomorrow - it's making my head hurt - right now, it feels like trying to understand Japanese, but thank you for your time and patience, though.

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Thank you. I'm assuming it's something I'm supposed to choose from the 'installation type' menu - but I have no idea what - clueless as to what all the abbreviations are, sorry.

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Sorry, I'm a bit lost now. I don't understand the 'swap space' - which, of course, it's now asking me for. I had originally allocated 500GB for LM. Do I really need swap space?

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Thank you, Austin.

Do I type in /dev/sda2 in the 'mount point'?

And do I leave it as 'primary' and at 'the beginning of this space'?

Re: Unable to dual boot from disc

Thank you all for replying. @Pierre: I found a little line in the tutorial that advised going into settings and UEFI menu - so I used the search function in settings, found UEFI and clicked on restart with DVD - that worked! Thank you! The problem now is that it doesn't like the 500GB free space it ...

Unable to dual boot from disc

I just purchased a new (old by now?) Asus F555LD notebook (64 bit), upgraded from Win 8.1 to to Win 10. Trying to create dual boot with Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa - so far to no avail. I merged a very small C drive with a very large (and unused) Data (D) drive with Mini Partition Tool - no problems there....

Re: Wine & PoL want to remove Nvidia 340

Thank you.

In the end, it was easier to just hit the install button in the software manager for PoL because it automatically removed it. My main concern was whether doing so would break things, but so far, everything seems ok and I was able to reinstall Kindle.
