Re: LMDE : brightness controller doesn't work

Shame that this guy apparently joined the forum for half an hour, then left town. I was hoping to get an answer about this since it's still an issue for me.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

I was poking around looking for new info on LMDE 3 and ran across this thread. I just had to comment. LMDE is in between and suits me; Arch is too much work; Ubuntu reminds me too much of what I don't like about Windows. Absolutely sums up the core of why I like LMDE and why I've done quite a bit le...

Re: Installing f.lux on LMDE2

For some reason, I can't get Redshift to work. I tried installing it straight out of the repositories for both LMDE2 and Debian Gnome Jessie (same PC). Both give me the same result: when I try to run it, I get a busy mouse cursor for about 10 seconds... and that's it. I followed the instructions you...

Re: Hostage Escaping Windows...

Welcome! When I first downloaded and installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview a few years ago, my interest in Linux was born. The official release of Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 have all kept that interest VERY alive. I won't lie, Windows 7 continues to work great on multiple PCs for me, ...

Re: Installing f.lux on LMDE2

Interesting reading about Redshift. I'll have to try it. I was mainly looking for f.lux because it's working great on my Windows box. It's claim to fame is the fact that it subtracts blue light instead of just pouring on extra red. I've tried other ones that just added a ton of red and it looked pre...

Installing f.lux on LMDE2

Hi all,

Has anybody tried using f.lux with LMDE/LMDE2? I know there's a native Linux version, but all of the installation guides I see talk about PPAs. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Sound applet doesn't work with Spotify

I'm surprised to see this because v1.0 fixed several issues I had with v0.9.

Re: LMDE : brightness controller doesn't work

Yes, please post how you solved it. Many of the solutions I've found pertain to Intel video adapters. Even though I have a Radeon Mobility, I've tried the fixes anyway with no luck. Honestly I'm surprised to have this issue with LMDE2. Along side LMDE2, I have Debian Gnome installed. LMDE2 worked ne...

Re: ATI Radeon driver problem (I think)

Ah, thank you for the clarification. I did find ATI (AMD) drivers for it, but if that's the case, they are probably too old to use anyway. Although I thought that the Catalyst drivers were more of an all-encompassing driver set that never really dropped support for older cards (within reason) as it ...

ATI Radeon driver problem (I think)

I'm having a strange issue on a fresh install of LMDE on a machine with a Radeon Xpress 200M chipset, which has built-in video. It seems as though the video will suddenly freeze, yet the computer is otherwise functional. When it freezes, the network light is still indicating activity, and if I was i...

Re: What are the differences between debian and main distro?

From the viewpoint of the relative Linux newb regarding the original question in this thread: LMDE is the best distro I've used in the two years of distro-hopping I've done, and is the only one that is still problem-free for me. I personally can't say that about the Ubuntu-based Mint. Every Ubuntu-b...

Re: No Transparency Option in Profile Preferences

I'm also using Cinnamon and I also don't like the fact that they removed that option. I removed gnome-terminal and started using xfce4-terminal instead. It's VERY similar in function, plus it has the option for transparency. So far it seems to work great. I even changed the Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut so it...

Can't seem to install PDFedit

Hello all, I'm having a difficult time trying to install pdfedit. I've read several different installation methods and nothing is working. I tried installing it via the Software Center and it didn't appear there. I tried going into the Synaptic Package Manager, searched for pdfedit, and nothing was ...
