You can lock the session everytime you are going to leave (don't remember exactly how, look in the shutdown menu)

Re: Maybe a dumb question, but I really miss my Mint!!

Mint does not include a text-based installer, but you can install Mint from Ubuntu with a tool called Lubi. Check out this page: http://lubi.sourceforge.net/lubi.html There are downloads and a guide. I am not sure if this will work with mint, but it might, so you should give it a try. Worst case sce...

At least for the right click, does CTRL+click work?

Not sure about the drive, is it formatted for OSX?

Re: Safetly upgrade from the commandline

I mean I could do apt-get upgrade without confirming to get the list of packages that could be upgraded, then paste them into a textfile, then take the unsafe packages from mintupdate, and remove those from that textfile, then repaste the textfile back into apt-get install. But, this is a long and t...

Safetly upgrade from the commandline

Hey folks. I am in a chroot to develop my mint CE, and I need to update the system. How can I update without breaking the system? On ubuntu, I would use aptitude or apt-get, but this would break mint. Is there some kind of commandline MintUpdate? Or can I somehow get the list of unsafe packages that...

Real men use the terminal.

To uninstall a package using aptitude, open the terminal and type without quotes: "sudo aptitude purge packagename".

Re: Macbook Pro and Linux Mint...

Unfortunately, not all macs handle linux the same. I have a second-gen macbook pro, and it works much less with linux than other macs. For example, I gave my friend with a macbook PCLinuxOS. He booted it, the resolution was right, and he was using 3D effects in no time. Then, I tried the CD on my co...

Re: Mac Spoof Commercial (not novell)

You know this is a joke right? A good one too.

They make fun of Windows, Mac, Linux, and even BSD in another one.

They are using stereotypes of the different OSs. Nothing to get upset about.

Re: My Firefox Install Suddenly and Unexplicably Died

Firefox 3? Try it, its quite stable, and some of the more significant addons still work. Also, you can even import bookmarks from your firefox 2 install.
