Re: If Mint decides to migrate away from Ubuntu, will it continue from Debian Stable, or Testing?
I ask because Stable has a bit of a reputation for having. Wry outdated packages, some kernel ones so old that there are people that can’t run the distribution on machines manufactured within the last few years. Currently, as I understand it, Mint is based off of Ubuntu LTS, which itself is based o...

Re: If Mint decides to migrate away from Ubuntu, will it continue from Debian Stable, or Testing?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Ubuntu is not based on Debian Testing. Testing is "buggy". Even LMDE, now, is not based on Debian Testing, but Stable. Ubuntu has always been based off of Debian Testing/Unstable/Experimental. They modify the packages to suit their distro though. But...

Re: LDME 5 - where dev happens and how to join
Figured I'd have to wait a bit for the LMDE5 to go live but I checked back this morning and it is live. When I checked it yesterday there were no packages in it. So right now I am running the Elsie repo with the Debian Sid repos. Have fun with it? :) For anybody else reading the above and thinking ...

Re: LDME 5 - where dev happens and how to join
I installed LMDE4 yesterday and then changed the debian repos to the Sid repos. Came across an issue or two with cinnamon after reboot. Figured I'd have to wait a bit for the LMDE5 to go live but I checked back this morning and it is live. When I checked it yesterday there were no packages in it. So...

Re: Why not base LMDE on Devuan?
systemd? Well, I'm not sure anymore. I thought LMDE2 was SystemV equipped. I had to double check what you were referring to. LMDE 2 is sysvinit. LMDE 3 may switch over to systemd. i need to check what i have on my migrated LMDE install. Went from Betsy to Cindy. If you use plain Debian, it switched...

Re: Why not base LMDE on Devuan?
I wouldn't call that being "stuck." If that's the case, then LMDE is stuck also as it's also still "only" based on Jessie. LMDE isn't stuck. You can change Jessie to Stretch and Betsy to Cindy in your repo list right now and upgrade. Stable Debian. Interesting exercise. I had tr...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3
Has anyone tried installing Debian 9 Stretch then adding the LMDE 3 Cindy repository? I installed LMDE 2 and then: -In the sources list: --Replaced Jessie with Stretch --Replaced Betsy with Cindy -apt-get update -apt-get dist-upgrade --if you have anything fail over a package dependency: ---apt-get...

Re: OUT of range display
in the terminal type sudo xrandr and if you have like 1024x768 listed than type sudo xrandr -s 1024x768. it might now be 1024x768, but use the 1024x whatever. then reboot and let us know what happens.
