I did a new Timeshift back up (manual).
Refreshed the update manager.
UNCHECKED the Thuderbird update.
Installed all the other updates.
Rebooted.
Things appear to be working normally.
I will have to avoid Thuderbird updates for a while ...

Re: Thunderbird no longer receiving Emails
Well plan "A" and "B" did not work.
Plan "C" (Timeshift) did. I am now back to version 115.8.1 (64 bit). I will "freeze" it there.

Ditto ... Fireless Fox Updates suck.
It should be eliminated from the distribution.

Maybe I should use the work around but a better approach would be to fix the problem.

Re: Dell XPS-17 (9710) Weird Audio Problems
I would add two more steps to be on the safe side:
1) Refresh update manager
2) Run Timeshift and create a restore point
I did all of the above: Kernel Linux 6.2.0-33-generic x86_64
No change and no joy, Plugging in the USB speakers again

I just installed Release Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria 64-bit, Kernel Linux 5.15.0-84-generic x86_64, MATE 1.26.0 on my laptop (Dell XPS-17 (9710). What is going on with the UI for Libre Office ??? Libre Office UI.png I went into Synaptic Package Manager and added the "libreoffice, office productivi...

Dell XPS-17 (9710) Weird Audio Problems
Well at least I think that they are weird. This has the Intel Timberlake chip set. If I configure it to use the internal speakers and go to Sound Preferences, Hardware, Test speakers then I get nothing. Same result when I am using my external monitor (ASUS Proart PA248CRV). This display has a built ...

Re: Linux Mint on Hyper-V
... because you agreed to their terms. :? :? :? It is not like the average consumer has much of a choice in the matter. Most of the computers one can purchase come with Microsoft Windows installed on them from the manufacturer. Much of the available hardware only has drivers/software for Windows. T...

Re: Linux Mint on Hyper-V
It turns out that I have another wee problem: no WiFi .... that has to be resolved before I solved the Windows VM problem. .... Well that was Simple: I had the WLAN disabled in the BIOS settings. Re: Linux Mint on Hyper-V
Sorry, but I guess I've completely missed the point of running Linux in a VM in Windows? It feels 180' out-of-phase. :? :? :? Well as it turns out I am installing Linux Mint (Mate UI) on the Dell XPS 17 (9710). I will run a copy of Windows 11 as a VM under Oracle Virtual Box. The entire reason for ...

Re: Well Hyper-V sucks
The idea here is to completely fill the screen with the Linux VM (that includes no Windows menu bar at the bottom) . Remmina via XDMCP might be a possible solution if I knew more about it. Other viable alternatives might be No Machine or VNC however both of these are glorified 'screen-scrapers' ( ac...

Re: Mint 21.1 Boot Problems on HP Pavilion x360 Convertible
I have one of these (HP Pavilion X360 15.6) but I installed a 1 TByte NVME drive as the main boot drive. Looking back at my notes I found the following: Regardless of what I do, I can not get the HP Laptop to install a Linux OS to the NVME drive. The embedded Intel Optane software in the BIOS effect...
