Sounds to me as though there is a problem with the partition table. Did you create mint on this SSD by cloning it from another drive? Try sudo sfdisk -l /dev/sda and see if it tells you anything useful. And sudo sfdisk -V /dev/sda will check the partition table. Cloned the original 500GB drive to a...

I would recommend NTFS for the shared data partition (accessible to both Windows and Mint without file size limitation). I ran both apt purge vlc and flatpak uninstall org.videolan.VLC went into Software Manager and uninstalled everything that said VLC, search for VLC in the menu and VLC still shows, start it up and it says its version 3.0.7 So confused at this point how do I save everything and reinstall Linux Mint 8...

What is the command to remove VLC all together then I can reinstall I tried uninstalling before now somehow I have VLC 3.0.6 and VLC 3.0.4 installed both have same problem.

Also the command to reinstall VLC, what version would you guys suggest?

VLC 3.0.6 Crashing LinuxMint 19 (tara)

When I try to play videos LM either locks up and I have to turn off power to restart or the screen turns into a mosaic, looks like 1000 little computer screens and have to kill power to reset. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC many times same problem, now somehow I have VLC 3.0.6 and VLC 3.0.4...
