Re: Will cars be the next computers we reboot?
Will our electric cars suddenly freeze on the highway in the middle of overtaking a truck? May be. Each computer once needs to reboot. Even in a NASA spacecrafts in deep space. What to do? Do not buy an electrical car now, but wait for what will happen to others. But even in mechanical cars, their ...

Re: Old PC's, Windows and Linux
Any ideas what is happening? Back in 2011 the Linux mantra was “keep your old machine working when it will not work with Windows any longer”, what has changed? Nothing. I don't know what is "machine" old or new. I have two workhorses at home - computers produced in 2007 and 2008. Both wor...

Updated to Mate 21.1. Nothing has changed at all on the desktop, except that the icon "Computer" disappeared. I immediately returned it back. That's all.

Re: Mint 21--How is it working for you?
With my own pleasure, I found that I was smart enough to switch the video driver before update to LM21 from Nvidia to nouveau.
P.S. OK, not really so smart, just knew that my Nvidia is not supported by the kernel 5.15.
After the upgrade, the rest of things just works as usual. Thanks to the LM team.

Re: How many distro's have you tried before and after coming to mint?
i like trying out new distro's (though i never use them for more than a day or two  ) so, what all distors have you tried before/after coming to mint? 1. Red Hat Linux (before RHEL) 2. Oracle Linux 3. Fedora 4. Ubuntu 5. Finally LM and do you still try out new distros just out of curiosity...

Re: Curiosity: why do so many people only use Linux on old hardware?
New to the forums here (I am sure this will age well...). This may have been discussed before, but I am curious about why so many people only use Linux (any flavour) on old hardware. You forgot to ask why Linus users are old men. They use old hardware, they used free software, they used classic des...

Re: Microsoft trying to get youtube-dl repo back online?
This is actually quite shocking, because MSFT is like the king of proprietary. I have never seen them standing for an open source project  But they always standing for themselfs. GitHub is subsidiary of Microsoft. The RIAA is actually an opponent of Microsoft. Who will win? Popcorn time. Mic...

Re: Linux mint to get linux kernel 5.10
@bigEasy So, all the old services that are removed and they were security vulnerabilities does not affect you I suppose? Better ask me what vulnerability is? A vulnerability, for example, is when my Nvidia suddenly stops working because of a kernel update. Also being an LTS kernel version is also i...

Re: Smart TV's have hidden cameras inside.
No, not 1984. 0001. Yes it started in around 2000 when the smart tv's came out i was referring to the movie and book 1984 I believe that BigEasy is not referring to 2000, 20001 til present but might just be referring to the beginning of time, as in this has always been the case with spying on other...
